Lochwinnoch Primary School
Lochwinnoch Primary School held their annual Burns competition and
hugely popular Scottish afternoon on January 26th. The turn-out for
the afternoon was amazing and we cannot thank everyone enough for
showing their support. Guests were treated to a variety of singing and
poetry, as well as homemade shortbread at our tea room. We even
had special visitors from Moss Wood Care Home in Linwood and from
ROAR and the Reminiscence Group which supports local people with
dementia.
Our nursery has also undergone a wonderful makeover. The children
have enjoyed lots of indoor and outdoor play opportunities and we are
excited to see what the future holds for our little learners.
On February 3rd, 22 lucky Primary 5, 6 and 7’s got the opportunity to go
to a Manchester United game. It involved a VERY early start and a long
drive down to Manchester but everyone was super excited. The children
got the chance to play a game of football at Wigan’s training ground and
they then watched Manchester United play against Huddersfield, which
resulted in a superb 2 - 0 win for the home team.
Outdoor Learning has been a high priority for Lochwinnoch Primary
School this year and we have taken part in many activities out and
about lately. Primary 3/2 all the way up to Primary 7 took part in bird
watching. Children had to count the number of different birds that they
could spot at specific intervals and we had great fun getting our wellies
on to see what we could see.
We also carried out a bug hotel refurbishment. We replaced and fixed
any broken bits on our existing bug hotels which are situated up next
to the annexe building. We hope that these changes make them much
more welcoming and appealing to the local wildlife.
Most recently we worked
alongside EADHA as part
of the Riparian Woodland
Project to plant aspen trees
which will help the local
riverbanks. It was a freezing
day when we went out but
we loved getting to use the
tools to plant all of the trees
down at the aspen grove.
We were also rewarded with
hot chocolate when we got
back to school which was an
added bonus!
Kilmacolm Primary School
Kilmacolm Primary saw many talented pupils taking to the stage to
perform in the 2018 Inverclyde Music Festival. To celebrate the wide
afternoon was Primary 5 pupil Stella MacEachran, Stella received a
and Adam Nish 1st in category winner, who had everyone gripped with
their imaginative tales. Primary 6 pupil James Kelly had the audience
the children who performed. What talented individuals you are!
This month in KPS saw the start of an exciting new after school club
- Film Club with Mrs McCredie! Some very lucky Primary 5 pupils are
becoming movie makers and have been busy creating their own movie
trailers. They have been using ipads to create their films and some
have been starring in their movies too. Next step... Hollywood!
