On Saturday 27th January the
Captain’s Badge of Office was
handed over to Alastair Frood by
Callum Campbell, the outgoing
Captain. Callum wished Alastair
well for his year ahead and took
the opportunity to thank the many
people who had helped to make
his Captaincy a successful one.
Quite a number of both Ladies
and Gents had gathered to
watch the new Captains ‘Drive In’ and the rain stayed off long enough
for this to take place. Alastair’s drive was followed by Lady Captain,
Marion Munro, and then by Junior
Captain, Gregor Rawson. All three
drives were chased up the 1st fairway
by two Rawson brothers, who were
rewarded for their efforts with a bar of
chocolate! Hot bacon rolls and coffee
were enjoyed by everyone after the
event .
Friday 2nd February was the Clubs
Burns Supper with 77 attending.
Everyone enjoyed the evening with a
full programme of entertainment. Past
Captain, Alan Gordon, addressed the
haggis and gave a wonderful rendition
of Tam O’Shanter while the Immortal
Memory was delivered by guest
speaker Roy Scott. Roy is very well respected in the medical world,
holding Hon. Lecturer posts at both
Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities
as well as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of
Dunbartonshire. Iain Findlay Toasted
the Lassies and, lady member, Anne
Gordon replied in a very entertaining
rhyme! The evening was interspersed
with musical interludes provided
by a talented variety of singers
and instrumentalists.
