elective CEUs. It includes respiratory assessment andthe use of adjunctive airway equipment

EMT-B BLOOD GLUCOSE ANALYSIS WORKSHOP EMSS:707
This workshop meets Missouri EMT-B relicensure requirements for three mandatory or
elective CEUs. It includes emergency medical care of altered mental status patients with
a history of diabetes. Emphasis is placed on assessment of the diabetic patient including
blood glucose analysis. Administration of medication related to diabetic emergencies is also
discussed.

NURSE ASSISTANT FOR NURSING HOMES NURS:723

This training program for nurse assistants meets requirements of the Missouri Omnibus
Nursing Act. The course provides the required 75 hours classroom instruction and 100
hours of supervised on-the-job training. Class meets twice a week for 20 sessions; each four
hours in length. The 100 hours of on-the-job training are in addition to the scheduled class
time. Course content includes training in basic nursing skills, fire safety, disaster training,
nursing home resident safety and rights, the social and psychological problems of nursing
home residents, methods of caring for mentally confused residents such as those wich
Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, food service, pesonal care, elimination, restorative
nursing, infection control, and special procedures. Upon successful completion of the course,
the student is eligible to take the final examination. A strict attendance policy is enforced
throughout this training. To enroll in this state approved training program the student must
be employable in a skilled nursing facility or intermediate care facility in direct resident care.
This will be assured by verification with the Family Care Safety Registry Worker Registration,
State Register for Nurse Assistants, Exclusion Database-Health and Human Services,
Office of Inspector General (OIG) and Excluded Parties Listing System (EPLS). Prerequisites:
Intermediate proficiency in English or higher is recommended. Family Care Safety Registry
Worker Registration from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (original
required at time of registration). Application and directions can be found online at www.dhss.
mo.gov. Register in person only in Continuing Education at Forest Park G-329. At the time
of registration the student must present a Family Care Safety Registry Worker Registration
letter from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Letter can not be older
than six months. Textbook required and available in the bookstore. Final exam fee of $75
is due at the end of class. Certification fee of $20 due at time of final exam. The student
must be employable in a skilled nursing facility or intermediate care facility in direct patient

This training program is for those seeking employment in the Home Health Caregiver field
and will provide 90 hours of combined classroom instruction, lab training and practicum
hours. Topics covered are: basic home health skills of client hygiene, home safety, home
environment care, documentation, nutrition and fluid intake, vital signs and body functions,
infection control basics, body mechanics, abuse and neglect reporting, psycho-social aspects
of aging, communication with clients, families, agencies, and co-workers, basic medication
knowledge, and CPR/first aid training. Register IN PERSON ONLY at the Harrison Education
Center or Forest Park Continuing Education office. Prerequisite: Original copy of Family
Care Safety Registry Worker registration (no more than six months old) from the Missouri
Department of Health and Senior Services required at time of registration. Registration may
