Sponsors Charity Drive<br />

In mid-November, Local 2 sponsored<br />

150 children from kindergarten to 8th<br />

grade, via “Operation Warm” to each<br />

get a brand-new winter coat and two new<br />

books at the Chicago Public Library.<br />

“Operation Warm” is a charity designed<br />

to benefit less fortunate children<br />

living in blighted neighborhoods. Local 2<br />

helped provide the kids, and their moms,<br />

a positive experience at their neighborhood<br />

public library. Interactive games<br />

were provided by the Museum of Science<br />

and Industry, a musical sing a long was<br />

provided by a neighborhood artist, an<br />

alphabet twister game was hosted by the<br />

Sun-Times and the finale was the coat and<br />

book give-away.<br />

“This was undoubtedly the most<br />

heartwarming experience of my life,” stated<br />

International Vice President/Business<br />

Agent of Local 2 Craig Carlson. “To see a<br />

need of these children be addressed and so<br />

thankfully received by both children and<br />

their mothers.”<br />

All of the above was funded by a<br />

$3,500 donation from Local 2.<br />
