QUICK & TIPS TO GET THE BEST SELFIE
L i g h t i n g
Lighting - this will make
or break your selfie. You
want to make sure that
any shadows and dark
spots on your face are
evenly lit. You can easily
achieve this by going
outside and facing the
sun (with sunscreen on, of
course!) or finding a
window in your home and
standing in front of that.
The other thing you can
do, if you’re really trying
to nail the selfie, is to
grab a piece of white
paper or a white
cardboard and place that
on your chest facing up
towards your chin/face.
This is what we call a
‘reflector’ and will fill in
some of the shadows
caused by harsh or dark
lighting. The best time to
take a selfie outside is
during the golden hour, as
with any professional
photography. The lighting
is soft, golden and
gorgeous! Some of the
newer smart phones will
allow you to use flash
whilst the camera is
turned on selfie mode.
This is by no means a
perfect solution, but it
does ensure that shadows
and other imperfections
are not highlighted by
lack of light.
