The Hororata Highland Games
is Selwyn’s own Scottish Festival
offering a full day’s entertainment
with something for everyone.
This is a big event with a diverse
range of attractions and activities,
you don’t have to be Scottish
to enjoy it. Watch professional
athletes compete in heavy athletic
events, highland dancing
championships, highland spin,
pipe bands, and the heart pounding
mass bands closing march.
Have-a-go in the junior warriors,
toss a caber or sheaf, take part in
archery, tug of war, kilted mile,
children’s colouring competition
and more. Discover the children’s
fairground, your heritage with the
clans, an amazing variety of food
vendors and more than 100 market
stalls. Early bird tickets are
available from the district libraries
or Eventfinda. Children under
five are free. Free on-site parking
and free programmes.

done early at this special festive
event. The day will include a visit
from Santa, a Santa postbox for
Christmas lists, live festive music,
seasonal themed games, competitions,
brightly decorated stalls
with gifts for the entire family -
all handcrafted. It is a day out for

Remember the slide show of the returned
traveller? Remember the projected image on
a sheet in the living room? See these oldtime
images combined with evocative music
in Delaney Davidson’s homage to lost ways of
storytelling. Come and be enthralled with these
traveller’s tales told through an ingenious blend
of live music and film. In his inimitable style,
Arts Laureate Delaney gives us a glimpse of a
forgotten time - dusty highways, old Europe,
the ‘new world’ of the USA and New Zealand as
you’ve never seen it before...
Fresh from the success of his recent European
tour, Delaney presents ‘Magic Lightbox’ at The
Laboratory on Monday 13 November, 7pm.
Catch him before he disappears again for parts
unknown.
The Laboratory is opening especially on a
Monday (when normally closed) so the whole
venue will be given over to this fantastic event.
Doors open at 5.30pm and the show
starts at 7pm.
The bar will be open with a delicious menu
available on the night.
