Action vs Uber<br />
Maurice Blackburn is investigating<br />
how Uber entered the Victorian<br />
market, and whether they breached<br />
any laws in doing so.<br />
From 2013 until mid-2017,<br />
commercial hire car operators<br />
were required to be accredited and<br />
licenced.<br />
It was widely understood that<br />
many Uber drivers were not<br />
appropriately accredited and<br />
licenced. If Uber knew that this was<br />
occurring and intended to injure the<br />
taxi and hire car industry, there may<br />
be a basis on which to commence<br />
legal action.<br />
Any legal action would seek to<br />
recover compensation from Uber<br />
for those financial losses suffered<br />
by participants taxi and hire car<br />
caused by Uber’s conduct.<br />
More parking at<br />
Melbourne Airport<br />
After much discussion between<br />
CPVAA and Melbourne Airport<br />
personnel last month, I am<br />
pleased to advise we now have<br />
24 additional VHA/B/C bays open<br />
for business on Level 1 of the AT<br />
Terminal T123 Car Park.<br />
These are located in Row D on<br />
the northern (T1 side) and are<br />
in addition to the 24 bays on the<br />
southern (T3) end of Level 1.<br />
Both sets of bays can be accessed<br />
either via the Terminal Drive or the<br />
Centre Road car park entries.<br />
