On the open road, the C3 cruises with just a<br />
hint of the harmonics normally associated with<br />
the three-pot design. I’ve made no secret of my<br />
desire for that configuration and it is a real gem<br />
with its response and characteristics that are<br />
part of the catalyst that promotes tidy handling<br />
manners.<br />
Riding on quiet-riding Michelin tyres (2<strong>05</strong>/55<br />
x 16in), the C3 has controlled grip and<br />
purposeful balance. For interest’s sake, the<br />
high-grade model gets wheels an inch larger in<br />
diameter. Even without low profile rubber, the<br />
C3 steers delightfully and, with its height of well<br />
under 1.5m, there is little weight transition, body<br />
balance stays even and occupants are treated to<br />
a ride/handling balance that you could expect<br />
only from Citroën.<br />
I remember well the hydro-pneumatic<br />
designs in cars of previous generations, and I<br />
can safely say, that even with far more simplistic<br />
technology, today’s ride from any Citroën<br />
model easily replicates that fabulous float-onfluid<br />
feeling.<br />
At $24,990, or $26,990 for the high-spec<br />
version, the C3 represents an easy entry<br />
point into the brand. It is loaded with safety<br />
technologies, and items for comfort and<br />
convenience. Citroën in New Zealand has<br />
recently undergone a major restructure in the<br />
way it is distributed, that can only mean a higher<br />
profile and with fine cars like the C3 a boost in<br />
sales is a certainty.<br />
