To promote further safety
awareness, maybe a continuance
of this signage should be at the
entrance to Prebbleton School
from the Lincoln side, and at any
other juncture that Mr Hunter or
Cr Lyall would deem necessary.
This would hopefully ensure
the necessity that all entering
Prebbleton observe the speed
limits of this rural town.
Readers respond to
an article on plans for
a walkway/cycleway
between Glentunnel and
Whitecliffs
Lyn Gallagher – Having
moved to Whitecliffs after the
2011 earthquake, I’ve been aware
of a growing population out here,
many of them younger families.
From conversations with other
locals, and my own experience,
this proposal has been long
awaited. A walkway/cycleway
would mean families could walk
or bike to the local Glentunnel
store, cafe, pre-school and
school safely without having to
be ‘looking over their shoulder’
constantly at the threat of a
truck or car coming up behind
them. One mother and her two
pre-school children had a very
close shave with a truck recently.
A walkway would also be an
incentive for young mothers or
fathers to take their babies out in
a pram, something that would
be unsafe at present. I feel the
walkway/cycleway would add a
quality of life out here, and I feel
a growing sense of excitement
that this incentive may finally
come to fruition.
Sue Wragg – As a resident
I strongly support a walkway/
cycleway between Glentunnel
and Whitecliffs. I have cycled
with my young grandson and
often walked it. Certainly fast
traffic and narrow corners to
contend with.
It would be used a great deal
in summer when the camping
ground is very popular, especially
since there is both a shop and
cafe in Glentunnel.
Liana Pasco – I support
the need for a track from
Whitecliffs to Glentunnel. We
live on Whitecliffs Rd (up on the
hills) and we have two young
children. Our eldest is five and
he quite often bikes all the way to
Coalgate with his nan. It scares
me that he is riding on the road
and going around the sharp
corners.
Graham Burnip – I live in
Glentunnel and drive to visit
friends in Whitecliffs. I could
easily bike this distance, but the
traffic and winding road make it
scarily dangerous.
So I’d favour a path adjacent
to the road sooner rather than
later. While a formed track would
be a good first step, an eventual
bitumen surface would be ideal.
Readers respond to an
article announcing the
line-up for Selwyn Sounds
in March
Danella Friend – No. I’ve
been waiting so long to see Leo
Sayer and now we are going
to still be in Malaysia in 2019.
Hopefully he can come back in
2020.
Yvonne Stubbs – Jon Stevens
why did you retire in the
first place? Thanks for coming
back for the fans.
Glenn Guildford – Would be
awesome to attend.
Julie Davies – Legends.
Kay Dawe – Awesome.
Readers respond to
an article about how
Lincoln now has four
bars within 1km of each
other
Wendy Anne Cornish –
Looks like they all have a point
of difference, and all the best to
each of them. Great to see Martin
Bennett brewing great beers still.
Shame the Tea House has gone
and morphed into something different.
Such a lovely, special place
to go for high tea when it was the
Tea House.
Stephen Graham – Sounds
like a great fun place to me.
Choice within walking distance.
Excellent.
Rhonda Chapman – The
Flaming Rabbit is great.
