The Art House - exhibition space and art<br />

EXCITING EVENTS AT THE ART HOUSE<br />
The Art House is a not-for-profi t social<br />
enterprise providing a vibrant cultural<br />
melting pot for arts in Southampton.<br />
Housed over three fl oors in a grade II<br />
listed building including wi-fi zones, the<br />
Art House provides an exhibition space,<br />
shop, café, and rooms where various<br />
events are held, such as ‘storytellers<br />
club’, a writers group, ‘poetry corner’,<br />
a beginners guitar group and lots more<br />
creative interactive activities. What a<br />
fantastic idea and a venue that needs to<br />

ALEX FROST<br />
Exciting Glaswegian artist Alex Frost is<br />
exhibiting at Artsway from 23 February<br />
to 6 April. His works play upon the<br />
concept of the rural retreat in contrast<br />
to the artist’s urban standpoint. Check<br />
out his interesting take on some<br />
recognisable brands. The preview and<br />
reception for the artist takes place on<br />
Saturday 23 February at 2pm. See<br />

NEW EXHIBITION FOR BOURNEMOUTH<br />
LIBRARY<br />
The People’s Spaces exhibition, housed<br />
on the 2nd fl oor of Bournemouth<br />
library, includes work from three<br />

photographers, each involved working<br />
with Bournemouth residents. Catherine<br />
Bramble explored workspaces in the<br />
Town Hall after employees had left,<br />
with some interesting results. Richard<br />
Jeffery worked with mental health<br />
service users to explore the landscape<br />
of Holton Lee. Check out Philip Hartley’s<br />
work in particular, who photographed a<br />
series of powerful portraits of children<br />
living in West Howe and Townsend.<br />

Delicatessen in Poole has unveiled a<br />
fresh new contemporary look, <strong>com</strong>plete<br />
with artwork by local photographer Sean<br />
Gardiner. The Guardian re<strong>com</strong>mended<br />
cafe (now in its 6th year) displays a<br />
small selection of Sean’s Dorset coastal<br />
scenes, which you can also view online<br />
at www.sean gardiner.co.uk. Any local<br />
artists wishing to display their artwork<br />
at New Orchard in the future should<br />

still visit the cafe at 5-9 New Orchard,<br />
