KITE TEST
RRD RELIGION MK 8 – 12 Mt.
of rigidity and resistance that the kite conveys, further improved
with Double Ripstop D2 and Dacron construction so
that even the gnarliest waves won't even scratch it.
Finally, we got in the water and began to test the kite in
light wind conditions 9-10 knots up to more challenging
wind conditions, 18-20 knots.
Its stability is impressive even in gusty wind conditions
and this is remarkable when you consider the speed of the
kite.
The kite is surprisingly efficient in any wind conditions,
easy, predictable and you really forget to have it in your
hands. All your attention is on your surfing and not on any
unexpected reactions of the tool which always gives you
the impression of being at the right place at the right time.
You can feel the work made to improve the drift as often
when the speed is increased the drift is lost but not with
this kite.
The low end is truly amazing and would allow you to use
one or two sizes less than many other wave kites, which
obviously means greater overall surfing speed and more
vertical and radical lines.
The top end is not at the same level of the low end, nor could
it be designing wise, but with a longer depower, which the
Global Bar could improve on future versions, it would allow
good feelings even when slightly overpowered.
However, it must be stressed that in wave riding it is always
better to choose one or two sizes less and therefore with
this mindset you'll find the Religion really optimized and in
line with this thought.
To this end, it must be said that even with very few knots
10-12, a lightweight or strapless rider could easily use a 9m
instead of a 12m this way benefiting from a smaller kite.
But who is heavier or out for the "strapped in" wicked surfing,
will find the 12m is the essential ally to truly and fully
perform even in marginal wind conditions.
The feeling on the bar is excellent, it does not pull too much,
and the power delivery is well balanced with a fairly short
stroke in order to have tons of control. Basically, you get the
