The level of riding has been increasing faster than ever
since we started the KPL. New tricks and more technical
features at every event. Some might think we claim every
event to be the best ever, but the fact is, every event we go
to is better than the previous one.
This year’s Patagonia Hood Jam will be remembered as one
of the best. Even though the conditions in Hood River are
known to be rough and unpredictable we had the most perfect
breeze during the event. More NBD’s (Never Been Done
tricks) than ever before were landed in this contest. During
the first round we saw Colleen Carroll stomp a Tootsie Roll
and Sensi Graves with a G-spot. Both tricks had never been
seen before in the women’s KPL. As for the men’s Brandon
Scheid finally put it together and stomped his Mobe 720 for
the first time ever in a contest. I also managed to make the
list with a melon grab backside 360 rewind frontside 360
which had also never been done in a KPL event before.
In the KPL we believe it’s just as important to focus on the
media coming out of the event as it is to have a good contest.
We always try to dedicate at least a couple of days exclusively
to photos and video to feed the web with the content
it deserves. This year Toby and Vincent decided to team
up and work on a TV Show style video of the event with live
scores and commentary. It should be out soon so give it a
watch if you care.
