kiting once in the sea. The four kilometres in the lee of
Cumbuco lagoon with perfect smooth water, steady wind
and standing area is one of the main reasons why Cumbuco
became famous and popular worldwide. In the early
years the space on the lagoon was abundant, nowadays the
lagoon is mostly very full and therefore only recommended
for experienced kiters.
In 2006 my first professional photo shoot took place on
this lagoon, where I did trick sequences for the Kiteboarding.eu
magazine. Bernie Hiss, the owner of Carved and Corekiteboarding
and his team rider Thomas "Beany" Burblies,
whom I had met before in Cumbuco, invited me to this
photo shoot. I was highly motivated and tied to perform in
the best possible way in front of the camera. The chemistry
between Beany, the photographer Axel Reese, Bernie Hiss
and I was excellent. After several brilliant shooting days, I
was, to my great joy, accepted into the international team,
whereby my long-standing collaboration with Corekiteboarding
was established.
After about a month in paradise I met my future wife, the
