Day 1: UK – Munich (Rail)<br />

We travel by rail to our overnight hotel.<br />

Day 2: Munich – Vienna (Rail) / UK – Vienna (Air)<br />

After breakfast we travel by train and board the MS<br />

Serenity in Vienna, the home of Mozart, Beethoven<br />

and Sigmund Freud. The city is known for its<br />

Habsburgs’ summer <strong>res</strong>idence Schönbrunn palace.<br />

Those travelling by air join today.<br />

Day 3: Vienna<br />

We spend a full day experiencing the delights of<br />

Vienna. Grand palaces, baroque castles, magnificent<br />

squa<strong>res</strong> and striking monuments are just some of<br />

the key featu<strong>res</strong> of this beautiful city, which is a<br />

world heritage site. In the morning you can join our<br />

optional city tour and in the afternoon we have an<br />

optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace, which<br />

takes you on a journey through time as we explore<br />

some of the 1,441 rooms. We set sail and cruise<br />

towards Linz this evening.<br />

Day 4: Linz – Melk<br />

An afternoon arrival in Linz al<strong>low</strong>s us the afternoon<br />

to explore the city. The must see-sights; the old<br />

town has charming cobbled streets and centuries of<br />

architecture and on the other side of the river is a<br />

modern affair. This evening we set sail to Melk.<br />

Day 5: Melk – Bratislava<br />

Melk is a small town which lies in the beautiful<br />

Wachau valley. Here you can join our optional<br />

excursion visiting the Benedictine Abbey. This is one<br />

of the most famous monastic houses in Austria and<br />

has been occupied by monks for over 900 years.<br />

After lunch watch the scenery glide by as we cruise<br />

to Bratislava.<br />

Day 6: Bratislava – Budapest<br />

We wake up this morning in Bratislava, the capital of<br />

Slovakia. This historic city is dominated by its castle,<br />

set high above the Danube and once a frontier<br />

post of the Roman empire. There’s also the unique<br />

suspension bridge, another key landmark which was<br />

announced as the building of the century when<br />

it opened in 1972. Join our optional excursion by<br />

miniature train to Bratislava castle with free time to<br />

explore the castle and the old town. We cruise to<br />

Budapest this afternoon.<br />

Day 7: Budapest<br />

Today we have a full day in Budapest, one of the<br />

most beautiful cities in the world. Here you can<br />

explore both sides of Hungary’s capital – traditional<br />

Buda and the more cosmopolitan Pest. Start<br />

the day by joining our optional city tour which<br />

introduces you to the highlights and helps you<br />

get your bearings in the city known as the ‘pearl<br />

of the Danube’. After lunch you can join our<br />

second optional excursion of the day, which takes<br />

you through the sweeping plains of Hungary to<br />

Lajosmizse. Here we visit a traditional stud farm<br />

and enjoy a tour of the grounds in a horse-drawn<br />

carriage, before watching a spectacular live Puszta<br />

horse show.<br />

Day 8: Esztergom<br />

We arrive early this morning in Esztergom, one of<br />

the oldest towns in Hungary. Here you can join our<br />

optional excursion to Esztergom Basillica, the third<br />

largest church in Europe. Enjoy another relaxing<br />

afternoon cruising to Vienna.<br />

Day 9: Vienna – Frankfurt (Rail) / UK (Air)<br />

This morning we bid farewell to our captain and<br />

crew and disembark our ship. Passengers traveller by<br />

air will be transferred to the airport for the return<br />

flight. Passengers traveller by rail travel to Frankfurt,<br />

where we check into our overnight hotel.<br />

Day 10: Frankfurt – UK (Rail)<br />

After breakfast we continue our return journey<br />

back to the UK.<br />
