Fireworks

TASK
Create a city landscape with a fireworks sky background.
Materials
✓✓ cartridge paper
✓✓ yellow, orange, red and blue paint
✓✓ strip of heavy card
✓✓ lead pencils
✓✓ erasers
✓✓ rulers
✓✓ glue
LESSON 1
1. To create the sky background, the
students use a sheet of cartridge
paper in landscape position and put
blobs of paint along one side in the
following order from the bottom of the
page: yellow, orange, red and blue.
2. Use the heavy card strip to spread
the paint across the page. A screenprinting
squeegee may be used for this.
3. Leave sky background to dry.

Lesson 2
1. On the strip of black paper or card,
draw a city skyline. Cut out and glue
onto the sky background, lining up the
bottom of the page with the bottom of
the city skyline.
2. Use a paintbrush and glue to create
firework patterns in the sky, sprinkle
them with different coloured glitter and
shake off the excess.
