Noyan Altuğ stated that after the<br />
pilotage services they provided<br />
at Çanakkale Akçansa Port, they<br />
launched the first private Pilotage<br />
Station at Aliağa Nemrut Bay.<br />

told the story of Uzmar to Viramaritime.<br />
“The story of UZMAR started with the<br />
establishment of the first private pilotage<br />
and tugboat company of Turkey by Sea<br />
Captain Altay Altuğ (Maritime College,<br />
1952) in 1973, which provided service<br />
to private ports on the Aegean Shores”.<br />

Uzmar’ Board Member Noyan<br />
Altuğ. “Uzmar obtained its license<br />
for “Response to Emergencies<br />
of Contamination of Marine<br />
Environment with Oil and Other<br />
Harmful Substances” in 2010 and<br />
is ready 7/24 to respond to any<br />
pollution caused by the substances<br />
at Aliağa Nemrut Bay Region with<br />
its trained and expert personnel<br />
and advanced equipment and<br />
fleet. Uzmar participates in fire<br />
extinguishing operations with its<br />
competent tugboats and crew at<br />
the coastal facilities and vessels<br />
and successfully performs ship<br />
rescue and flotation operations.<br />
“Uzmar started to build its<br />
own tugboats in 1996 in Tuzla<br />
Shipyards Region for the purpose<br />
of expanding its fleet and is now<br />
using the modern designs of the<br />
world’s leading shipbuilding<br />
engineering firm, Canadian<br />
Robert Allan Ltd. The vessels we<br />
build with progressive engineering<br />
principles at the highest standards<br />
are exported to more than 22<br />
countries on 6 continents today”.<br />
Altuğ also told us about the Uzmar<br />
Shipyard:<br />
“It was built by the state-of-theart<br />
technology and standards in<br />
Kocaeli Free Zone in 2005 and<br />
soon after acquired a unique<br />
production band combining<br />
innovative shipbuilding techniques<br />
with the SEM (ERP) system and<br />
named it “Uzmar Workboat and<br />
Tugboat Plant”.<br />
The shipyard has an indoor area of<br />
19.000m 2 and a pier with a length<br />
of 170 m. It is based on a land<br />
of 60.000 m 2 and is one of the<br />
most competent shipyards of the<br />
country with its floating dock with<br />
a capacity of 5000 tons. In addition<br />
to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and<br />
OHSAS 18001 certificates, it has<br />
the NATO Security Certificate and<br />
the Facility Security Clearance<br />
issued by the Ministry of National<br />
Defense”.<br />
Altuğ said that with the progressive<br />
engineering principle, they have<br />
achieved perfect customized<br />
applications in a timely manner.<br />
“Thanks to the development of<br />
the online construction process of<br />
Uzmar, we use the high technology<br />
infrastructure, production time<br />
and work power in the most<br />
efficient way and offer a lifetime<br />
technical support service, allowing<br />
its customers to follow up the<br />
construction process online from<br />
anywhere on the world”.<br />
Noyan Altuğ concluded his words<br />

and exports more than 15<br />
different types of vessels a year<br />
with a pioneering vision in the<br />
industry and achieved major and<br />

many firsts both in Turkey and<br />
the world.”
