Turkey builds ships for 600 years
“Hamburg SMM
maritime fair is

shipbuilding fairs
of the world. And
Turkey, as one
of the countries
having a say in
building specific
ships, is ready to
present its unique
contribution to
the fair this year.”
Turkey is contributing to the
global maritime industry by
participating in all kinds of
events related to the maritime
industry. Our country especially
cares about participating in major
congresses, conferences and fairs
of the world. For this reason, we
will try to provide our contribution
by participating in the events in

the Hamburg Fair which will be
organized between September 4-7.
The Hamburg SMM Fair is
one of the world’s biggest and
long-lasting shipbuilding fairs
organized every two years to
bring together the world’s seamen,
helping different segments of the
industry to cooperate with each
other. Therefore, it is always an
important meeting venue for us.
The Turkish shipbuilding
industry has become a brand
with its specific ships built for
the European countries. With
its quality, speed and price
advantages, Turkey is one of the
most preferred countries by our
European peers in ship and yacht
building.
Turkey’s success in shipbuilding
is actually not new. It has made
many important achievements in
shipbuilding for centuries. Haliç
Shipyard, for instance, is one of the
oldest shipyard of the world and is
still offering ship maintenance and
repair operations. Therefore, this
success of Turkey in shipbuilding
is not a coincidence. It is the result
of a knowledge accumulated for
centuries.
Turkish shipbuilding is an industry
which always develop and renew
itself and value innovation and
university&sector collaboration
to offer seamless service to the
world’s seamen. It has become
a major player especially in
specific sea vessels. And the
breakthroughs of our shipyards in
defense industry have proven the
capabilities of Turkish shipyards.
Our shipyards both produce new
sea vessels and take significant
measures for life and property
safety. And the environment is
another priority for the Turkish
shipbuilding industry. For this
reason, they take important steps
towards building green ships.
Moreover, Turkey is also
recognized for timely and smooth
delivery of special ships to not
only European countries, but also
to many countries in the world.
And with this sensitivity and care,
our country continues to build
fast and quality ships to world’s
seafarers.
Albayrak: Turkey to continue taking steps within free
market rules
Turkey’s Treasury and Finance
Minister Berat Albayrak has said
Ankara will continue taking steps
within the rules of the free market.
“All of our private sector has
displayed a very decisive stance.
I would like to say here we will
continue to take steps within
the rules of the free market. We
will protect our Turkish Lira,”
Albayrak said at a symposium in
Ankara marking the anniversary
of the ruling party’s foundation
on Aug. 14.
“Such attacks are risks for all
countries in global financial
markets. Everyone sees that
the U.S. dollar lost credibility,”
Albayrak added, referring to the
rapid fall of the lira after United
States President Donald Trump’s
decision to double tariffs on
aluminum and steel on Turkey
amid a deepening crisis between
the two sides over the continued
detention of American pastor
Andrew Brunson.
Albayrak also said fighting
inflation and current account
deficit are main priorities to
establish a “much stronger Turkish
economy.”

Turkey’s Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak has
said Ankara will continue taking steps within the rules of the
free market.
The Turkish minister will address
foreign investors on Aug. 16.
According to Demirören News
Agency, a teleconference will
be organized in coordination with
Citibank, Deutsche Bank, DOME
Group and HSBC.
Some 1,000 foreign investors,
particularly from the United
States, Europe and the Middle
East, are expected to join the
meeting, which is scheduled to
be held at 4 p.m. Istanbul time.
The call for global investors,
which will be held ahead of the
publication of Turkey’s Medium
Term Program, will be hosted by
David Lubin, Chief Emerging
Markets Economist of Citi
Research, the organizers said in
a statement.
