The Shipyards in<br />

located in Karadeniz Ereğli. The<br />

important thing is to integrate this<br />

potential into a logistics centre”.<br />

5. Ustamehmetoğlu Ship<br />

on October 5. Another fishing<br />

boat is under construction. It has<br />

approximately 30 employees.<br />

Because it has not received any<br />

new orders since exporting two<br />

tugboats to the Netherlands in<br />

2009, it tries to sustain the business<br />

and get new orders through its own<br />

means. It has 11 employees.<br />

2. Ereğli Ship Industry<br />

Shipyard<br />

In the past, 16 chemical tankers<br />

were manufactured in the range<br />

of 5300 DWT to 250 DWT and<br />

more than 30 tugboats of 18-36<br />

meters. At the moment, pillars for<br />

one chemical tanker of 8400 DWT<br />

have already been cut, waiting for<br />

building. As of December 2015,<br />

building of 6 tugboats of 25.5m is<br />

ongoing. During 2007 and 2008,<br />

there were 5,000 workers in the<br />

shipyard, now only employs 161<br />

employees, including 36 its own<br />

and 125 subcontracted workers.<br />

3. Med-Yılmaz Ship<br />

Industry Shipyard<br />

Deliveries of Iraq’s order, 20<br />

aluminium steel boats of 7.25<br />

meters, and Directorate General<br />

of Coastal Safety’s order, 4 coastal<br />

safety boats of 18 meters, have been<br />

made. Besides manufacturing and<br />

maintenance of fishing boats, the<br />

construction of one fishing boat of<br />

17 m and 2 vehicular ferries of 36<br />

meters in Malatya province have<br />

been completed.<br />

With its 121 employees, the<br />

shipyard has also undertaken<br />

under sub-contracting the<br />

construction of the 4 tugboats in<br />

the Ereğli Ship Industry Shipyard.<br />

With the rest of the 9 employees,<br />

it is involved in construction of<br />

a 22-meter fishing boat in the<br />

existing shipyard.<br />

4. Madenci Ship Industry<br />

It has ceased its activities since the<br />

order was cancelled by shipowner<br />

of 2 dry cargo vessels of 9,750<br />

6. USMED Ship Industry<br />

Tic. A.Ş. Shipyard<br />

In the past years, 4 chemical<br />

tankers were built in the range<br />

of 7400 DWT - 8400 DWT in<br />

this shipyard. The latest chemical<br />

tanker of 8400 DWT was launched<br />

in May 2011, and there is no<br />

current order at the moment. It<br />

has suspended its activities.<br />

7. UMO Ship Industry<br />

Shipyard<br />

After building new passenger<br />

boats, it moved its activities to the<br />

former shipyard Ustamehmetoğlu<br />

Shipyard due to the expiry of the<br />

existing temporary permit.<br />

8. Demir Gemi Tersanesi<br />

San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti.<br />

On 07.14.2014, it obtained the<br />

permit of partial operation.<br />

Currently it is building one coaster<br />

of 3,000 gross tons, 85 meters long<br />

with the cargo capacity of 5,000<br />

for the Turkish Star Project in the<br />

scope of the renewal of the Turkish<br />

Maritime Trade Coaster Fleet.<br />

9. Gündoğdu Shipyard<br />

(Karasu)<br />

It ceased its operations and<br />

declared bankruptcy in 2011.<br />

10. Cansu Gemi<br />

Shipyard<br />

(Zonguldak)<br />

It has ceased its activities.
