inTERnATionAL buyers contributed nearly $16million to this year’s<br />

inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, securing 78 of Australia’s best<br />

young prospects.<br />

Successful foreign buyers included representatives from Hong<br />

Kong, Macau, ireland, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, the United<br />

Kingdom and new Zealand.<br />

The top-priced youngster secured by an overseas buyer was<br />

Evergreen Stud’s Redoute’s Choice filly from Brave And Bold, which<br />

went to Dean Hawthorne <strong>Bloodstock</strong> for $875,000.<br />

Australian-bred mare Sun Classique was an international star<br />

in Dubai during her racing days and her reputation was enough for<br />

george Moore <strong>Bloodstock</strong> to go to $850,000 for her colt by oasis<br />

Dream, which was offered by patinack Farm, who secured the mare<br />

at the 2010 inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale carrying this colt.<br />

george Moore <strong>Bloodstock</strong> was also among the growing band of<br />

buyers getting on the Lonhro bandwagon at this sale, buying a colt<br />

from indalama for $500,000.<br />

Easter also welcomed back the Hong Kong Jockey Club to this<br />

year’s sale, with eight yearlings purchased for $2.19 million.<br />

Apollo ng was also among the active Hong Kong contingent,<br />

having five yearlings knocked down to him for $1,305,000.<br />

Tuesday Joy was a group one winner in Australia after being<br />

conceived from an ambitious venture which sent a number of<br />

Australian mares to Japanese legend Sunday Silence. The venture<br />

came full circle on the final day of the sale when Japan’s Katsumi<br />

Yoshida went to $750,000 for her colt by More Than Ready, which<br />

was offered by Strawberry Hill Stud. The colt was among four<br />

purchases for Mr Yoshida this week.<br />

Japan was also represented among the lots to make $500,000<br />

or more with Bright international’s purchase of a Charge Forward<br />

filly from Arrowfield Stud for $520,000.<br />

BBA ireland has for a long time been among the most shrewd<br />

Easter buyers and the tradition continued at this sale when<br />

Adrian nicoll secured Kia ora Stud’s Fastnet Rock-Allegra filly for<br />

$650,000.<br />

South Africa’s World Wide <strong>Bloodstock</strong> picked up five yearlings<br />

for a tick over $500,000.<br />

David Redvers, the man responsible for securing Sheikh Fahad’s<br />

Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden, was the leading UK buyer at the<br />

sale, with five yearlings knocked down to him for $995,000.<br />

Leading <strong>Bloodstock</strong> agent James Bester’s sale spend included<br />

$975,000 spent on three yearlings for a South African-based client.<br />
