The KNA Bluegrass Chapter has had a very productive and exciting year! A great group of members
regularly attend its meetings and the chapter has a very hardworking board.
Its board meets every third Tuesday of the even months and membership meetings occur every third
Tuesday of the odd months, both at The Chop House in Lexington. Social time begins at 5:30 p.m., with
meetings starting at 6 p.m. The chapter’s goal is to arrange for a continuing education presentation at each
membership meeting with the opportunity for attendees to earn 1.0 contact hour. Below is a recap of last
fiscal year:
November Member Meeting 2017:
• Our guest speaker for the evening was Jill Keys, MS, ED, BSN, RN, from the Lexington-Fayette County
Health Department. Jill presented information on the clinical importance of immunizations and
recommended schedules for immunizations.
• For its yearly outreach initiative, members donated $126 to the The Well, a shelter for female victims
of human trafficking.
December Board Meeting 2017:
• The Bluegrass Chapter had the largest number of attendees at the state KNA Leadership Meeting in
Bardstown. Representatives agreed to have the chapter develop a “Chapter Leadership” module to
use for KNA training.
• The board voted to work with the KNA regarding special interest groups concerning human trafficking
and infection control projects.
January Member Meeting 2018:
• The January membership meeting scheduled for January 16 was cancelled due to ice and snow.
