Wouldn’t it be good if every year we could depend on
summer weather such as we enjoyed this year?
We would gladly carry out the non-stop watering
in exchange for lovely warm, sunny days. But
of course nothing is guaranteed, and so in our
planning we have to do our best to choose plants
that will perform well whatever the weather. If
the sun shines it’s a bonus. Most of our plantings
are still showing a fair bit of colour, although it was
noticeable that geraniums seemed to flower themselves
to a stop earlier than usual.
Although one of our displays
in the centre of the village
again suffered some damage
- vandalism or perhaps just
high spirits - the overwhelming
response from local folk is very
positive and encouraging.
Thank you for your comments
and a special thank you to
those who made unsolicited
donations.
We are now planning ahead for winter and spring and before we know it
we’ll be planning our AGM. Some committee members are due to retire
from committee, so if anyone out there would like to come on board please
be in touch.
Colourful Kilmacolm is open to everyone. If you have not yet joined, the
very modest £5 annual subscription will support our efforts. You can opt
just to be a supporter, or to be an ‘active gardener’ and help with planting,
weeding etc. It’s also another way to make new friends.
Membership forms can be downloaded from our website www.
colourfulkilmacolm.org.uk or you can phone Peter (01505 872448) or Liz
