LEGAL NOTICE AND NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING
The Peabody Board of Health, acting under the authority of Section 31, Chapter
111, of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, at its public
meeting of October 24, 2018 at 2:30 P.M at Peabody City Hall lower level
conference room), will vote on proposed amendments to its "Regulation of the
Peabody Board of Health Restricting the Sale of Tobacco Products."
SUMMARY OF PROPOSED REVISIONS
· Establishes a maximum number of Tobacco Product Sales Permits and
Adult-Only Retail Tobacco Stores in Peabody
· Restricts the sale of flavored tobacco products to adult-only retail tobacco
stores.
· Prohibits the sale of flavored tobacco products by health care institutions.
· Prohibits tobacco sales for new retail locations within 500 feet of a school.
· Requires retailers selling nicotine in a liquid or gel form to comply with
requirements for child-resistant packaging and plans for safe disposal.
· Modifies the Violations section to clarify certain penalties.
A complete copy of the proposed regulation is on file for public viewing at City Hall
during normal business hours at the offices of the Health Department. In addition,
the proposed regulation is posted on the City of Peabody website at
www.peabody-ma.gov.
