Brrrrrrr…… It is getting cold out there!
Houston and Killellan Kirk are gathering donations, for men
and women, of socks, gloves, hats, scarves and winter undies
for the Glasgow City Mission and the Simon Community in
Glasgow.
Many folk are not able to get enough warm clothing for
the winter, and these donations will help keep some
vulnerable people comfortable in the cold weather
over the next few months.
If you would like to contribute, please contact c.e.morrison@btinternet.com,
or leave the items at the Church at any Sunday service in November.
An intrepid group of 10 from our Kirk are supporting Social Bite in their mission
to end homelessness in Scotland within 5 years, by taking part in “Sleep in the
Park” on 8th December in Kelvingrove Park. Lead by our Minister, Rev Gary
Noonan, the team don’t expect tropical weather, but they believe it will be worth
it, if it increases awareness of the fact that very many folk have to sleep out
like this every night, in often appalling weather conditions. In taking part they
are also raising funds for the Social Bite initiative, particularly as we approach
Christmas.
If you feel able, there are ways to sponsor the team through the sponsor forms in
the Kirk, or on our Virgin Money giving page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/
Team/HoustonKirk There is a link to the giving page on the Kirk website:
www.houstonkillellankirk.org Do share also on Facebook and Twitter. Together
we can achieve Social Bite’s target!
Unfortunately only 7 of the team were available for the photo shoot – but all 10
will be there on the night!!
