In July <strong>2018</strong> the highlight of the year was<br />

the ‘In Bloom’ judging in Catley Lane Head,<br />

local results are eagerly awaited following<br />

the fantastic success of the Gold Award for<br />

Rochdale.<br />

In August <strong>2018</strong> we had a discussion<br />

residents, commoners and landowners about<br />

the possible re-instatement of gates to<br />

restrict unauthorised access and illegal use<br />

of the moor.<br />

RMNF continues to support other<br />

neighbourhood forums and we have been<br />

contacted for help with various issues by<br />

Thornham St Johns Neighbourhood<br />

Forum, Warsash Neighbourhood Forum<br />

and Woodford Neighbourhood Forum.<br />

Festive Flapjacks<br />

Makes approx 40 small squares<br />

INGREDIENTS<br />

250g butter<br />

200g golden syrup<br />

100g soft brown sugar<br />

250g porridge oats<br />

100g plain white flour<br />

150g mincemeat<br />

25g glace cherries - roughly chopped<br />

Splash vanilla essence<br />

METHOD<br />

1. Grease and line a shallow baking tray<br />

(approx 30cm x 25cm) with baking<br />

parchment.<br />

2. In a small pan melt the butter, syrup and<br />

soft brown sugar.<br />

3. Add the oats, flour, mincemeat, cherries<br />

and vanilla to a mixing bowl then stir in<br />

the butter and syrup mixture.<br />

4. Spoon the mixture into your prepared tin<br />

then bake at 160°c for<br />

10 minutes until just set.<br />

5. Remove from oven,<br />

leave to cool then turn<br />

out of the tray. Cut into<br />

small squares or slice<br />

into bars.<br />
