2019 cuts through the tension of the previous year and brings
an air of strength and optimism. I'm feeling energised right now
by bold guitar-lead melodies, lively tempos and lyrics
surrounding determination. It's the kickstart we all need to fight
back and get empowered.
One song I cannot get out of my head is ‘Banquet’ by Bloc Party.
Although it was released over 10 years ago, hearing it again in
the new Pelaton ‘Inside A Class’ ad has grabbed my attention.
That rebellious attitude, the pumping beat and an electrifying
guitar riff.
The next song choice is of a completely different vibe and
intrigued me just within the first week of the year. The only
problem is that it hasn’t been released yet nor has a title been
announced… All I can say is that it’s by Eli & Fur, as heard on the
Kayak ‘Travel Pros’ advert. The track has an interesting taste of
curiosity and wonder with playful experimentation and
exploration in Japan. The contemporary dance sound also feels
like a teaser of what we can expect to hear this year in the
music world.
The third track? Well, here's where I leave it up to you. This is
where you think about your own journey, emotions and dreams.
This will be a song that strengthens what ever your heart is
saying. For me, I've chosen 'Feel My Needs' by Weiss. There’s
just a huge, beautiful blossoming sensation of love in this song.
The piano melody warms your heart together with the wishes
and desires felt through the vocals.
