Hal Sparks
Actor, comedian, musician,
comic and father, Hal Sparks is
exceptionally talented and an allaround
great guy. Most of us may
know Hal as Michael Novotny from
Queer as Folk, but his resume
was quite impressive even before
he joined the show in 2000. His
career has flourished since but he
has managed to stay down-to-earth
and keep his sense of humor.
Modesty aside, how would you
describe yourself?
I don’t believe in Modesty. That
should tell you something. But in
all seriousness, I would describe
myself as average height, below
average weight, above average
hair… last seen leaving the scene
on a black Honda Fury considered
armed and dangerous.
You have a prolific and diverse
career, doing films, TV shows,
stand-up, radio, writing and
music. How are you most
recognized in West Hollywood/
Los Angeles?
THE 12TH ANNUAL COACHELLA VALLEY WILDFLOWER FESTIVAL IS SATURDAY, MARCH 2ND, 2019!
Each spring, the desert comes alive as the wildflowers bloom and transform the Coachella Valley
into a colorful canvas. The best place to celebrate them is at the Coachella Valley Wildflower
Festival, which this year will be held at Palm Desert Civic Center Park!. In addition to great
AdamsArtExpose’ ART
LOCAL ARTIST GERALD PATRICK
EXHIBITS HIS WORK AT ART PALM
SPRINGS SHOW
Several local galleries had exhibits
at this years Art Palm Springs show.
Gerald Patrick a local artist who
has his studio gallery at 1800 Via
Negocio Road in Palm Springs had
an impressive display of his varied art
creations in the show.
Talking with Gerald at his booth,
he stated that he has been in Palm
Springs for 6 years. His previous
work was as a potter and designer in
Los Angeles. He worked for Mikasa
for several years designing tableware
for them. He also worked for several
other luxury tableware companies,
including: Lenox, Yamazaki, Reed
and Barton, and also for sivlersmiths,
Cambridge.
He moved to Palm Springs in 2015
with the intention of creating art
that he wants to create on his terms
not just creating for other entities.
His gallery/studio in Palm Springs
displays the work he has been creating
These works can be viewed on many
canvases, including, abstracts, bold
AdamsArtExpose’
patterns and solids. He also has
colorful metal sculptures that are
created to be displayed indoors or
outdoors that can be seen in the
gallery. Sculpture is an offshoot from
his previous work as a potter. The
sculptures are painted in brilliant
colors with shapes that have a graceful
flowing lightness that eludes that they
are made of metal.
Gerald says he spends most of his
time in his studio intently painting,
most recently on large canvases which
express his visual creativity. Mr.
Patrick is an example of the quality
of accomplished artists that have
migrated to Palm Springs of which we
have the privilege to see their ongoing
work. You can visit Gerald Patrick's
studio gallery on request. His email is
gpatrickdesigns@gmail.com. You can
also view more of his work on his web
site www.geradpatrick.net
THE LAST WORD
Well in the desert
Please consider supporting this Well in the desert event. Many of us are fortunate to
have a home, a place to release, hang a picture. I keep reminding myself that each day is
passing faster and faster. But this is not so for our homeless. They must fight every day
for food, comfort, and clothing. It's the little things that keep us, like hanging a picture
to remind us of better times. But a picture can do so much more than inspire, one begins
to find comfort in it. Visit www.wellinthedesert.org and finmd out more about helping
thoise in need right here, right now in your town.
