NEW ACTIVITIES<br />

The <strong>DC</strong> <strong>Ranch</strong> Community Values are the driving force<br />

behind the abundance of activities offered to residents.<br />

Family, friends, community, health and learning are<br />

nurtured and enhanced through a variety of events,<br />

programs and classes. New in <strong>2018</strong>:<br />

• Summer Adult Cooking Class<br />

• Photography in the Desert<br />

• Living with the Desert seminar<br />

• Cookies with Mrs. Claus<br />

• Howdy! Happy Hours for new residents<br />

• CPR training<br />

• 20 for 20: Hiking Challenge<br />

• Family Movie Night<br />

• Wisdom + Wit trivia night<br />

ARTS AND EDUCATION<br />

The Homestead Playhouse produced “Seussical the Musical,<br />

Jr.” in the spring of <strong>2018</strong> with a cast of 33 performers ages 5 to<br />

15. Other Arts and Education classes and workshops included:<br />

• Kids Cuisine<br />

• “Harry Potter” and “The Pied Piper” summer camps<br />

• Creative Arts Workshops<br />

• Sunday Shakespeare: “Julius Caesar”<br />

• Passport to Art<br />

FITNESS AND WELLNESS<br />

With a fitness center, swimming pool, hiking and much<br />

more, there are many ways for residents to achieve<br />

a healthy lifestyle. Each year, more members of the<br />

community participate in these activities and classes, and<br />

the Community Council is always looking for new ways to<br />

help them enhance their well-being. Offered in <strong>2018</strong>:<br />

• Yoga<br />

• Strength and Balance<br />

• Body Tone<br />

• Tai Chi<br />

• Shallow Water Exercise<br />

<strong>DC</strong> RANCH GIVES<br />

The <strong>DC</strong> <strong>Ranch</strong> Gives program provides residents with<br />

meaningful opportunities to engage with each other and give<br />

back to the broader community.<br />

More than 100 residents volunteered 339 hours this year and<br />

over 1,500 items were given during three donation drives:<br />

• Toys for Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children<br />

• School supplies for Valley of the Sun United Way<br />

• Pajamas and books for children in foster care<br />
