The 2018 Futurity series opened at Xanstorm Equestrian
Centre in Lanark where breeding and producing show
jumpers in the main aim of the family owned centre. So, it
was appropriate that the highest score of the entire series
should be awarded there to a show jumping bred filly – Esme
X. This three month old daughter of Goodyear VDL is owned
and bred by Aileen Stormonth and was awarded a perfect 10
for both her frame and her canter. Goodyear was the 2014
Scottish Loose Jumping Champion and is a son of international
competitor Indorado. Esme’s dam is a Belgian bred mare
whose grandsire is Otto Becker’s superb Grand Prix horse
Cento.
The overall yearling show jumping champion was also
discovered at Xanstorm and again belongs to Aileen
Stormonth. This being Argenteus, a son of John Whitaker’s
international star Argento. The colt was actually bred by
Jeanette Lewis of Oakenhall Sport Horses and is being
produced as a future stallion. The dam Vamirette B is by the
late great Baloubet Du Rouet x Damiro.
Esme X (Goodyear VDL x Cadence Van’t Gelutt Z)
And the eventers were not to be out done either with the
2018 eventing yearling champion also coming from this venue.
The filly Mesmerize-Me SSH is by the coloured dressage
stallion Zumanji Décor out of the Ed King Hill daughter
Edwina. Bred by Rosalyn Serex the filly is now owned by Lottie
Stewart. Edwina is also the dam of the AES licensed stallion
Buenno and was a winner at county level in coloured classes.
Two filly foals that scored Elites on that first day, where
the top Dressage score of the day for Sannabays Nerina and
the top Sport Pony score of the day for Woodburys Lollipop.
Lollipop looks set for 128cm pony jumping classes, given
the success of her sire Woodburys Harlequin. Her dam is the
Welsh Section A Brynseion Happiness, and Lollipop was bred
by Victoria Lillington.
Sannabays Nerina was awarded a super score of 9.225, with
a perfect 10 for her frame and 9.75 for her walk. She is a
daughter of the British based sire Dream On (Depardieu x
Lavauzelle) and her dam is by First Way (Furst Heinrich). She
is owned and bred by Lauren Piercy.
Mesmerize-Me SSH (Zumanj Décor x Ed King Hill)
Finally the top eventer was another filly foal, this time
Joanna Heaton’s Pure Imagination. This daughter of the
classically event bred Primitive Faerie Tale was praised for
her very active walk and scored well in all three paces.
Primitive Faerie Tale combines the blood of Ben Faerie and
Primitive Rising and he reached advanced level at only 7 years
old.
