The AES Celebrates
a Busy and
Successful 2018
Season
It has been a busy summer season for
Anglo European Studbook breeders,
with two Elite Foal Auctions, grading
tours, and success to celebrate on the
international stage, as well as closer
to home at the Elite Foals Tour and the
British Breeding Futurity.
AES Foals and Youngsters at the
British Breeding Futurity
We are extremely proud of the many
AES breeders who supported the
British Breeding Futurity this year,
achieving excellent results. The
highest scoring dressage entry across
all venues and ages was Crocket,
bred by Nicola Burton of Wrestow
Stud by Quantensprung from her Jazz
x Flemmingh mare. In the Eventing
category, 3 AES foals were awarded
Elite marks, two of them bred by Julia
Hodkin by her own stallion, Future
Illusion, and AES also had the highest
scoring eventing yearling in Mersmerize
Me SSH, who is bred by Rosalyn Serex
by Zumanji Décor. In show jumping,
the AES dominated with the top scorer
in each age category, and a particular
highlight in the beautiful filly Esme X
(Goodyear VDL x Cadence van t’Gelutt
Z), bred by Aileen Stormonth, whose
outstanding score of 9.525 was the
highest across all ages, disciplines and
venues this year. A very well done to
all the breeders who can be immensely
proud of their achievements, having
put their foals and youngsters before
a team of internationally experienced
judges from all disciplines.
AES Success at the Elite Foal
Tour
We are delighted that the Elite Foal
Tour this year was well supported by
AES breeders, and we are proud to
have had more regional champions
than any other participating studbook,
with AES foals from each of the three
Olympic disciplines qualifying for the
Final. A particular highlight was the
beautiful colt Ashdale Casino who
went on to win the Tour Final in the
show jumping category. This lovely
colt by Casall ASK was bred by Henry
out of his Cassiano x Capitol I mare.

AES Elite Auctions
Now in its third year, the AES Elite
Auction is establishing itself as a way
of giving breeders from all over the UK
that all important shop window and
opportunity to reach out to professional
buyers from across the country and
beyond. Our philosophy has been to
encourage British buyers and riders to
look again at British breeding as the
place to source their next champion.
To support this, we listened to the
industry who asked for the opportunity
to see a wide range of quality foals in
one convenient location.
Our show jumping and eventers auction
took again place at Addington during
the Young Horse Championships and
featured an outstanding range of foals,
including a filly by Diamant de Semilly
out of Amy Ward’s famous mare Witch
who achieved the top price at the
auction, selling for £12,000, closely
followed by a gorgeous colt by Cicero
out of a Germus R mare who already
has offspring competing internationally
at 1.40m level, who sold for £11,000.
For the first time ever, we took the
dressage foals to the LeMieux British
Dressage National Championships at
Stoneleigh Park for their very own Elite
Foal Auction. We were delighted with
the response and enthusiasm from
the dressage community, with busy
stables all day and a packed audience
on the Saturday night. The top price of
£15,000 was achieved by an Embryo by
Finest out of Claire Hester’s Weidyfleur
II, full sister to Valegro and mother of
the up and coming stallions Integro
and U-Genius. All our breeders very
much enjoyed the experience and the
opportunity to connect with owners
and riders, and we are delighted that
some of the foals went to fantastic
dressage homes where they will be able
to develop their full potential.
