The Snooker Room is open weekdays
between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm
and any other time the Evergreen
Centre may be open.
The primary focus of the club is to
have fun, build friendships and socialize.
Your snooker skill level is
irrelevant so don’t feel intimidated if
you are a beginner. Prospective
members may visit the club room up
to three times without charge to help
with their decision on whether to
join. While most of the current
members are men, there is a small
group of women who play regularly
(typically on Tuesday mornings), so
ladies, don’t be shy, give it a try.
Membership is available to all
paid-up members of the GWSA on
payment of the prescribed annual
snooker activity fee. The current fee
of $70 (plus tax) buys you access to
the Snooker Room any time it is
open and all the snooker you care to
play.
Texas Hold ’Em
Why not come out and have fun with
us? We are averaging about 16 players
a week. We are situated in the
Dining Room, as we find this a more
comfortable place to play and the

tables are exactly right for us.
We charge $1.50 per week and
pretty well all of that goes to
GWSA.
Our time is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Each player starts off with $602 in
real casino chips. We do not play for
money, but for more bragging rights.
The one with the most chips each
week is the winner. We play until
there is only one player left or 8:30
comes, whichever is first.
We will gladly teach anyone who
is interested in playing. Our aim is to
have fun and enjoy a sociable game
of Texas Hold ’Em. We welcome
everyone who wants to play and enjoys
company.
Remember, you have to be a member
of GWSA to play.

Committee Corner
Greetings from your Membership and Marketing Committee. Last month I invited you to submit a
short story (one paragraph) or a few sentences to be crafted into an article on how your membership is
helpful or meaningful. You could send a story of how you are getting involved and making friends and
how it is enabling you to age successfully. Perhaps there is a little note about how you observed someone
else having fun in our Centre.
We all appreciate that so many are friendly and cheery when in the building or engaging in an activity.
There is a lady I see quite often, who, in spite of her memory issues, always has a smile and a
friendly greeting.
Making this a great place is up to YOU! Thanks to you from everyone else.

News Flash - Spring is coming! I saw an announcement from our Canoe Activity Group.

Walking Club
Hi walkers. Winter is over and it is
time to register for our 2019 Walking
Season. Hope everyone has had
a good winter and is ready to get
started on another summer of walking.
Registration is different this year
as we are paying at the front desk of
the Evergreen Centre. The annual
fee is $10. You will receive the tentative
walking schedule on our first
walk which is on April 25. For our
first walk only, we meet in the dining
room of the Evergreen Centre at
9:30 am.
Looking forward to seeing all last
year’s walkers and hopefully some
new folk looking for exercise with
lots of fresh air. It is a great way to
make new friends while discovering
the trails in the area.
Watercolour Painters Club
The Evergreen Watercolour Painters
Club provides an opportunity for
watercolour painters to practise their
hobby along with others sharing the
same interest, while encouraging one
another and receiving information,
ideas and inspiration. While we do
not offer classes or lessons, we welcome
accomplished watercolour
painters. There is a small annual
membership fee and membership
with the GWSA is required. We
meet on the 1st and 5th Wednesday
from 12:30 to 4:00 pm and the 3rd
Wednesday from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
in Room 2.
