said the Transit Master Plan needs to consider the locations
Seniors want to access as part of their weekly needs.
We need routes that get Seniors to destinations such as
grocery shopping, medical centres, banking, downtown
entertainment, and the Evergreen Seniors Community
Centre.
There will be further engagement with the Seniors community
and I hope the GWSA can host an information
session where all of you can voice your opinions and express
your transit needs.
EXTRA NEWS!!
Your GWSA discussed with the City representatives the
possibility of partnering and offering a BIKE SHARE initiative.
This initiative is already popular and expanding in
Toronto and many other cities on par with Guelph as a
logical and viable method of commuting to work, school,
cruising to recreational sites like Riverside Park, or riding
downtown for the Saturday market, or any of the downtown
events. The attraction is, you don’t have to buy the
bike, maintain the bike, or store the bike, and the bikes all
have “generous” seats.
We need GWSA members to share their opinions, concerns
and suggestions for each of these 2 Master Plans.
Watch for a survey or an information meeting to share
your thoughts. But remember, you can send me an email
anytime or stop by the Boardroom on Mondays and chat.

The theme is the “SPRING FLING”...stay tuned, watch
for signs in the foyer, check the GWSA website, Facebook
and Twitter, or just ask a friend or the volunteers at
the front counter to find out what’s going on.
Featuring another beautiful choir performance by the
SILVERTONES….
This means the MAY 3rd DANCE might be CAN-
CELLED if the auditorium is in use for the OPEN
HOUSE.
Hopefully, by the time you read my message, the little
crocus and grape hyacinth are showing off their spring
colours and we can ‘smell’ (in a good sense) spring all
around us.
Spring has sprung, dear friends, so… BE ACTIVE GET
INVOLVED MAKE FRIENDS at the GWSA.

Each month, approximately
mid-month, the Membership
and Marketing Committee
at the GWSA will send a
GWSA Email Update. It
will highlight a few of the exciting things happening
at the GWSA, important communications from the
Board, and upcoming programs by CSS.
You can unsubscribe from the updates at any time
by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link which will be
displayed at the bottom of every update.
If you have previously completed a paper “Consent
to Receive Electronic Communications”, we are asking
you to complete the electronic sign-up process
described below. We can’t sign you up manually
AND have our list editor keep track of the CASL
(Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation) compliance for
those paper forms. It’s one way or the other and we
have chosen to use the electronic option.
You can receive the GWSA Email Updates by
completing the steps described below:
1. To begin, please send an email to subscribe@gwsa
-guelph.ca. If you’d like, you can put the word

subscribe in the Subject line or you can skip that
part. In just a few minutes, you’ll get a message with
a link.
2. Click on the link you received, fill in the appropriate
fields, and click “Subscribe to List”.
3. To ensure you really want to receive GWSA email
updates – and to make sure all email addresses are
error-free - we’ll send a message asking you to
confirm.
4. Once you respond to the confirmation message,
your registration is complete and you’ll receive our
Welcome letter.
We have also placed a link under the “Popular
Links” section on all web pages on the GWSA
website. Clicking on this link will also initiate the
signup process. This will take you to step 2
(above). Simply follow through with steps 2 to 4 to
complete the process.
You can expect to receive your first GWSA Email
Update approximately mid-month after you sign up!
