private. It’s a real life story about being in love for the first time in NYC and having a real connection (physical and mental). I wanted to make it danceable and high-energy, because that’s my defense mechanism in a way. I was like “well, if I can go onstage with my dancers and dance my heart out, I can’t be shy about the lyrics, right?” I always think about the live version when doing a song - I love being on stage! You’re a classically trained pianist, do you still play or combine this with your pop/urban style? Yes - I’m classically trained. I feel that each style does something different for me. I still play classical music (almost daily). That’s like a de-stresser for me - you can’t think about anything when you’re playing a Beethoven piano piece with 800 key changes. As for my pop/urban music, I use my music theory for melodies or instrument layers, but my goal is to make these songs simple and real. I don’t want to overcomplicate them - I do that enough in my everyday life lol. I bring my classical background in my music most noticeably during my ballads (which is coming on my EP)! pretty regularly working! I was on an episode of Law and Order: SVU, MTV Truth Campaign, and an upcoming ad for Kipling! I do have a feature film being filmed this summer (which is on the DL), but It’s a new way to express myself and I do love it. You want to inspire young people in a positive way, what are your words of advice for young people and rising artists? I do want to inspire people. I’m still “figuring it all out,” and I think it’s important we have a more accepting view of that. In my new music, I want to be real and talk about my mistakes, my relationships, and my life. I want to show people that you can be young and still make a difference. I used to be so self conscious about using a cuss word or talking about some things I’ve felt, but I know I’m not perfect and I want people to just see me for who I really am. I feel like I’ve been holding back. My advice: don’t pretend to be something you aren’t. The beauty about being an artist is to be your true self without limits. Embrace it. What are your plans for the future? Can you tell us a little about your acting work? Acting was such a random thing for me. I grew up doing musical theater, but I really didn't have the desire. I got this idea one day that (for some reason) I was supposed to start auditioning. I immediately got this wonderful manager for acting and have been 32 www.AudationMagazine.com I’m releasing my EP this summer and have 3 singles on deck! I’ve been laying low for about a year now because I’ve been working on this project, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m also finishing the business side of Paytra Publishing and have
some upcoming projects for film and TV that I’m looking for indie artists music! It’s all about rising up together this year. Any last words? I recently opened “Paytra Publishing LLC” to help artists publish and market their music in a trustworthy environment. I want people to not make the same mistakes as I did.
