Imagine growing your favourite plants all year?
The Smart Garden 3 takes care of your plants
automatically by making sure they have enough
water, light and nutrients at all times. The NASA
inspired Smart Soil makes sure your plants get
the optimal configuration of water, oxygen, and
nutrients, while special LED grow lights provide
them with the energy they need to thrive. No
pesticides, plant hormones, or any other harmful
substances are used. With a modular lamp arm,
updated LEDs and a sleek design, this is the
ultimate self-growing garden. Comes with three
complimentary basil plant pods so you can
start growing right away! Various plant pods
available – rosemary, basil, oregano, marjoram,
thyme, salad greens, decorative flowers, mini
tomato, wild strawberry and several varieties
of peppers. R1 650 from Builders Warehouse
Garden Day!
There’s nothing like the joy of gardening. Connecting to nature, the
pride of growing your own plants, flowers, food and of course, the
amazing health benefits. It’s also been said that gardens, no matter
how big or small, have the potential to bring people together, which
is why on Sunday, 20 October you should down tools, and invite
neighbours, friends and family round to celebrate Garden Day.
Some ideas:
• Use fresh flowers and greenery from your garden to make flower
crowns for everyone. • Invite friends for a bring ’n’ braai – use herbs
from the garden to flavour their meat. • Instead of a book club, have a
plant club. Ask guests to bring a rare or interesting plant to swap with
one of the other guests. • If you don’t have a garden, visit someone
who does and enjoy it with them.
Perfect for patios …
Snack-sized sweet orange peppers are easy to
grow in pots on the patio or a sunny windowsill.
‘Sweet Snack’ pot peppers produce loads of
crunchy, delicious fruit, about 25 to 30 fruits in
two flushes. It’s a healthy snack for kids and good
for chopping into salads, platters and stir-fries.
The more you pick, the better they produce. The
plants are just as pretty and stay compact (50cm
high). They just need regular watering, plant food
once a week and a warm, sunny spot. Details:
