FINAL
WEEK!
Identity of cat shooter remains unknown
• By Sophie Cornish
THE TRAIL to find the
person who has been
shooting cats in Prebbleton
has gone dry.
Two-year-old Riko, who
lives on Hodgens Rd, was
shot on June 10 and lost
an eye as a result of his
injuries.
A police spokeswoman
said “inquiries were made
in the neighbourhood.”
“However, there are
no further lines of
inquiry at this time
and the matter has been
filed. Should further
information come to
light this would be
looked into and actioned
appropriately,” she said.
Last week, Selwyn Times
reported Senior Sergeant
Pete Stills said a person had
been spoken to in relation
to the shootings but no one
SPCA is also looking
into the incident and
a spokeswoman, Jessie
Gilchrist, said three
shootings in the past three
years in the Prebbleton area
suggest the incidents may
be linked.
Based on the bullet
extracted from Riko, the
weapon was most likely
a .22 calibre rifle or
bigger.
