Rolleston Central Health
Rolleston Central Health is turning five this
year and, despite its significant growth in size
over the years, still retains their personal and
friendly service.
The largest purpose built medical centre
in Selwyn, they officially opened their doors
to the Rolleston community on 30 June 2014
and offer extended hours from 8am – 8pm on
weekdays and 9am -12pm during weekends.
The growth has been significant
beginning with two doctors, six nurses
and three reception/administration staff.
Fast forward to 2019 and they are a very
diverse and experienced team of 27. There
are currently seven doctors, 12 nurses and
eight receptionists/administration staff
along with a podiatrist, midwife and four
physiotherapists.
The management team is made up of
director Dr Phil Schroeder, charge nurse Glynis Dodson
and practice administrator Deb Devon.
In 2017 Rolleston Central Health opened its new
extension to the existing building, adding another four
consultation rooms, nurse and doctor administration area
and minor surgery theatre.
“Patient numbers have increased steadily over the
years and we welcome new patients as the size of the
custom-made building is future proofed for the growth of
Rolleston,” says Dr Phil Schroeder.
The team’s primary focus is on their patients with a
convenient online system for making bookings, requesting
prescriptions and viewing laboratory results. Patients can
also view their immunisation history, recalls and long term
medications.
Rolleston Central Health also has reduced fees for
Community Services Card holders and free consultations
for children aged 13 and under.
“As much as we are here to help when you are unwell we
are also keen to work with you to maintain and look after
your good health and provide help, education
and support in various areas to address
lifestyle issues such as smoking cessation,
weight loss and adult health screens to name
a few,” says Dr Schroeder.
Rolleston Central Health also has two
observation bays.
“From time to time our patients are too
unwell to go home but we don’t want to
rush into making a decision to send them to
hospital in Christchurch. Our observation
bays are used for acute asthma, IV therapy,
monitoring while waiting for blood results or
rehydration.”
The medical centre team is affiliated to
the Pegasus Health PHO (Public Health
Organisation) and they are also proud to
be a Cornerstone accredited practice which
means they have met the very high standards
set by the Royal New Zealand College of General
Practitioners.
Rolleston Central Health is for registered patients and
they need to book ahead for the popular evening and
weekend appointments. They are conveniently located
in the heart of the Rolleston Retail Precinct next door
to Unichem Rolleston Central, with plenty of parking
off McCauley Street. Their services can be accessed at
