thought I’d actually show you one of my
I “many” residuals that I have been getting
for my career. A penny! Kind of ridiculous to get
these checks.
The cost of the salary for the person who sends this, along with the
paper, envelope, and the stamp (not to mention the time it takes) far
exceeds these tiny payments. To be totally candid, I have no way of
keeping track of what television shows have been on - so I would never
even know about them if the payments weren’t sent to me.
This one was for an old episode of the TV show “Scarecrow and Mrs.
King.” The gross amount was three cents and the net was a whopping
one cent!
I considered walking into the bank with a straight face to deposit it.
I thought it would be fun to see the look on the teller’s face but decided
I wouldn’t be able to pull it off without laughing, so I decided to really
mess up their books and have the check framed!
By the way, for those who might have “googled” my name, you might
So many people have complained that they’ve
become victims of borrowers that I’m citing
actual quotes from those who’ve lost money. It’s
my sincere hope that these comments will deter
anyone tempted to shell out dollars they expect to be returned.
1. Lending money is the fastest way to lose a friend.
2. If a recently acquired contact asks for any amount, absolutely,
positively, do not give it.
3. With a relative or someone with whom you are chummy never,
never be coaxed into foregoing a written IOU because of your close
connection.
4. Beware of an associate borrowing several small amounts and
repaying promptly. Then suddenly asking for a huge amount. S/he
definitely plans on defaulting - or disappearing.
5. You should help someone who is genuinely in “Big Trouble” only
if you’re absolutely comfortable with making it a gift if it is not repaid.
6. Requests for money for any reason from foreign sources are scams
and 100% no-no’s.
As The Checks Come Pouring In...
Lending Money
have seen that my “net worth” is 12 million dollars! Really? With these
amounts of residuals, I wonder just how I acquired all that money.
The other thing I wonder is just who posts these kind of things and
just where do they get their information! Kind of funny actually.
Of course I shouldn’t complain about my residuals, because last
month I also got one for $2.97! And I almost fell over two weeks ago
when I received one for $10.16! Of course, I try not to spend all of these
checks in one place.. Ha!
Who and why these checks are mailed out, I’ll never know. I guess I
have all those nostalgia television channels to thank for that. Believe
me, I’m not complaining. I just think it’s kind of funny.
While I assure you that my net worth is nowhere near $12,000,000,
I AM however quite wealthy. But my wealth is measured in love, family,
laughter and friendship, and for that I am truly thankful
Until next time remember: Life is a gift to you...the way you live it, is
your gift to others.
7. To avoid claims
that the money was
a gift and not a loan,
when repayment
time comes, it’s
mandatory that
you both confirm
the loan by a dated
acknowledgement
via email, text message or handwritten notes. Most importantly - State
the specific date the total debt is to be refunded, or exact day of every
month the repayments must be received if in installments.
8. And as Judge Mathis declared: “Never succumb to promises to
reimburse ‘when I get my tax refund.’ That definitely means never. And
if a debtor dies, the estate executor will need indisputable evidence in
order to reimburse you.”
