UCKFIELD PHAB:
MAGIC CARPET LAUNCH PARTY
Uckfield Phab are thrilled and delighted that they have received a grant
from The National Lottery Community Fund to purchase a Magic Carpet
for the club.
The Magic Carpet enables people with
complex needs and without to interact
with music activities, sports activities,
reading and social activities.
Thanks to a generous grant from Uckfield
Lions and together with a community
Lottery Grant the club was able to
purchase a ‘Magic Carpet’. The idea is
that interactive images are projected onto
the floor, table or onto a wheelchair this
makes it totally inclusive and follows
Phab’s ethos of ‘Making More of Life
Together’
The club held a thank you party
on Saturday 22nd of June and were
honoured that the Mayor of Uckfield Cllr
Spike Mayhew attended the event along
with members of Uckfield Lions and Cllr
Paul Sparks who is also a Trustee of the
club. Members of the club enjoyed the
many activities and got to use the Magic
Carpet.
The Magic Carpet was first seen when
Chair and Trustee Janine Williams visited
a disability show in Birmingham at the
NEC and was determined to fundraise
for one, but luckily the support from
the Lions meant they did not have to
fundraise and the company that makes
the unit Sensory Guru are located in
Buxted so it was made locally and used
locally.
The club is for ages 9 and above for
people with and without disabilities and
it is a chance to come to the Youth Club
and have lots of fun.
