JUNIOR CRICKET GOING FROM
STRENGTH TO STRENGTH IN UCKFIELD
by Peter Holman
Uckfield junior cricketers
attended their first under
10’s soft ball tournament
in Pevensey last weekend.
The weather was kind
and with England in
the World Cup final on
the same day, cricket
was at the forefront of
everyone’s mind.
After a short warm up,
Uckfield opened up against
Polegate and Stone Cross
batting first and scored
255 with Zachary Holman
staring with the bat.
Polegate finished with
262, winning by 7 runs. In the second
game against Hastings, Uckfield batted
second and scored 268 with Hastings
being restricted to 261 after some
excellent bowling from David Newman
including a maiden over and a wicket.
Roberstbridge were too strong in the
last game and Uckfield finished with 1
win and 2 losses.
The full Uckfield side was: William
Morgan, Lucas O’Neill, Zachary
Holman, Imogen Holman, David
Newman, Jacob Causton and William
Newman.
Coaches Peter and Samantha Holman
said “We were so proud to see our
juniors compete. They all worked so
hard and showed a great amount of
sportsmanship. We are keen to get them
playing more matches and hope to
organise some friendly games against
other local teams in the coming weeks.”
Uckfield junior cricket is at the Victoria
every Saturday morning, 10.30 – 11.30
until 3rd August. For more information
