COVER
One proud thing we
gay rags get to do is
document our gay
history. In a world
where the only
catalyst for change
is pain. When the
issue (whatever
it is), cannot be
tolerated, there
must be change.
Please note I use
terms like “many”
instead of “all
people”.
Palm Springs police
report on Oct. 4
there was a fight at
gay-friendly Wang’s in the
Desert. It may be a hate
crime.
Police said anyone who
witnessed the fight can
contact Detective Edman
Escallada at (760) 323-
8129.
This is an ongoing
investigation so the
details may change.
But I want to know why
Palm Springs police
labeled Wang’s in the
Desert “gay friendly”. As
far as I know, it’s a gay
and straight friendly,
but it also includes
trans community and
those that do not label
themselves at all. We
are a changing world
and our police proudly
accepts our changes and
expected to act accordingly. My dad used
to tell me in his day, if a cop beat up a kid,
that parent would beat up the kid too, for
messing with “his” job. But when that job
included beating up black kids to protect
white folks from what might happen, the
civil rights movement started. And clearly
that movement still has a long way to go.
Growing up, we had a lake called
Coggmanchauggagoggchau
bunagungamaugg. or Webster lake
My shaman told me it means you fish on
that side and I fish on this side and nobody
fishes in the middle!
But it’s presents an underlying statement
that people are reluctant to integrate. One
only needs to remember Halloween past
replaced fewer houses available to the
average trick or treater for one reason or
another. Integration is beneficial.
The real problem is how this has now
spilled into our streets and everyday life.
Like shootings, Wang's, George Zander’s
murder or the flag waving with ramped
up MAGA tweakers in pickup trucks with
gigantic flags in their bed!
These are just bullies daring someone,
anyone to knock some chip off their
shoulder. Even the method of wearing a
MAGA can be used like a weapon at a
native American is not politics its wrong.
Then at some liberal event, this hate is
inciting people to act out as we saw in
Charlottesville. The reality today is these
once isolated events are the tip of the
iceberg. One that’s that is melting fast
under a climate change of hate and likely
to get far worse. In impeachment past we
all agreed on the bad behavior and the
obstruction.
This rings true for many things that move
on a moral scale of gray levels. But there
are many things not on that scale, things
that are black and white like racism and the
KKK do not have any gray areas.
Right now, all fingers point to Trump
as the real problem when he riles up his
base to hate filled levels. When his base
still believe they voted in hate because the
liberals pushed to far. Its wrong but real
but will be there after we deal with Trump..
Sure, Racism can take many forms and
might have different severities but is all Those that call an undocumented citizen
racism. There is no good racism, even what an illegal, yet claim Trump is not giving
Trumps said about a KKK rally “had fine due process? Is because they never
people on both sides”. He was, as usual, understood the constitution.
wrong. Now he has even stumbled into
WWIII, turning wrong and right into There is more to say, but for now we need
a sliding scale using “getting caught” as to watch our all our backs even if you
one of the levers. Saying NATO protects disagree with someones politics. We are all
Turkey from invasion prevents the right to still Americans and there is not a sliding
slaughter 22 IF the YOU Kurds LIKE US, that PLEASE fought LIKE with US us. ON FACEBOOK: scale for DESERTDAILYGUIDE
GAY PRIDE ARTISTS OVERRIDE THE DISCRIMINATION ADMINISTRATION
There were symbols to represent
the LGBTQ community prior to the
rainbow flag designed by Gilbert
Baker and first used in San Francisco
in the gay rights parade in 1979, but
it has become the standard symbol of
the community since that date. Gay
pride initially gained recognition
following the Stonewall Inn Uprising
in New York City in June of 1969.
However, the struggle for recognition
and equal rights continues at an even
more vigorous level following the
election of Donald Trump in 2016.
section of citizens began. Over the
past 3 years, there have been 60
actions directed to roll back, remove
or add new discriminatory actions
against the LGBTQ community.
Anti-transgender rights have been
especially targeted. Obviously the
influence of Vice President in Hate,
Pence, has pushed much of this
discrimination.
Artists from all areas of the visual and
performing arts have protested against
the Trump hate campaign. Musician
artists including Neil young who
AdamsArtExpose’ ART
Since the day he was inaugurated, protested Trump using his "Rocking
Trump's first discriminatory move in the Free World" as background
on January 20, 2017, the mention music for his campaign. R.E.M. took
of LGBTQ people was scrubbed legal action for TTrump's; use of "Its
from the websites of the White the End of the World" as a pump-up
House, Department of State, and jam for rallies. Twisted Sister initially
Department of Labor. That is how agreed to Trump using "Not gonna
24 discrimination IF YOU LIKE US, and PLEASE hate LIKE for US one ON FACEBOOK: Take DESERTDAILYGUIDE
it Anymore", but then rejected

it being used seeing the hypocrisy of
Trump. Adele did not give permission
for the use of "Rolling in the deep" and
the theme from "Skyfall" for political
campaigning. Elton John rejected
Trump's fascination with him and his
music. Although admitting to knowing
Trump and saying that he had nothing
but pleasant interactions with him prior
to his election, Elton said his political
views are completely different from
using their works.
Numerous visual artists have provided
their own version of protests to Trump's
tyranny including Brian Stauffer's "
A Shred of Truth," painting or Adam
Ellis's game art, Scrabble of "Trump is a
Racist or Rapist" However the protests
of artist continue to help eradicate the
Trump from our society the Rainbow
flag and colors continue to represent the
his and then stated that "Why not ask
Ted fucking Nugent? Or one of those
fucking country stars: They'll do it for
you". Adding to the list, The Rolling
Stones, Queen George Harrison's estate,
along with Steven Tyler and opera
singer Luciano Pavarotti's esate has
protested Trump's even referring to
positive Pride movement of the LGBTQ
community toward equality and
acceptance in a world of discrimination
and hate.
