NOTICE:
CHANGES TO MANDATORY
REPORTER TRAINING
On May 8, 2019, Governor Kim Reynolds
signed into law HF731, making changes
on how mandatory reporter training (both
child abuse and dependent adult abuse)
is provided. On July 1, 2019, the Iowa
Department of Human Services (DHS) took
over the responsibilities for the training of all
Mandatory Reporters in the state of Iowa. The
training is offered online at no charge through
DHS. This is the only approved training
allowed in Iowa. Due to these regulatory
changes, Hawkeye Community College is no
longer offering Mandatory Reporter Training.
Any Mandatory Reporter Training completed
at Hawkeye prior to July 1, 2019 is valid per
HF731, Sec. 7, which stats: “A child abuse
or dependent adult abuse training certificate
relating to the identification and reporting of
child abuse or dependent adult abuse issued
prior to July 1, 2019, remains effective and
continues in effect as issued for the five-year
period following its issuance.”

Would you like to reduce chaos and conflict with children in
your home or classroom? The Nurtured Heart Approach is a

level, their inner wealth and greatness. Discover how to use
a child’s intensity and emotions in a way that works for them
rather than against them, how to create positivity and success
