3. Stereotyping

There are fewer women in the

construction industry because

there are fewer human

resources personnel and

recruiters who are open to

welcoming them into the

industry. They had always

perceived this business as

a male-only career and that

women do not necessarily

belong out there in the field.

There have been no active

efforts to educate them of their

possible role in the field, so

unaware female applicants

have never tried getting into

the industry. And although they

may be qualified for certain

positions, there has always

been a recruitment bias,

preferring the men applicants

over the females.
