Pointing out that cancer cases areincreasing every year, Prof. Dr. Necdet Üskent,Anadolu Medical Center Oncological SciencesCoordinator and Medical Oncology Specialist,noting that immunotherapy treatment issuccessful in lung cancer, he said, “Immunotherapyalso reduces the need for chemotherapy. 29Smokers are 20 times more likely to get lungcancerRemarking that a healthy lifestyle and coping with stress isvery important to reduce the risk of cancer, Prof. Dr. NecdetÜskent, said, “We know that cigarettes and other tobaccoproducts are responsible for 30 percent of lung cancerrelateddeaths. In fact, the rate of lung cancer in smokers is20 times higher than in non-smokers. About 90 percent ofdeaths from lung cancer are related to smoking.”Ways to reduce cancer riskMedical Oncology Specialist Dr. Necdet Üskent gaveimportant clues about ways to prevent lung cancer...• No smoking: More than 4000 harmful chemicals incigarettes and scientifically proven that these chemicalsdamage DNA and cause changes in important genes. In thiscase, the cancer cells develop rapidly in the body and cancause cancer by proliferating out of control.• Stress should be avoided with meditation, yoga and musictherapy: Stress is one of the most important factors thatincrease the risk of cancer, such as many diseases.• Nutrition should be considered: All cells in the body,including cancer cells, need sugar. Fried foods, fattymeats and other high-fat foods should be consumed less.At least 5 fruit and vegetables a day should be eaten,especially green leafy and high vitamin C foods, citrus fruitsshould be consumed fish twice a week.• Active lifestyle should be adopted: Regular exercisechanges the body’s metabolism. Bu durumda kanserhücreleri vücutta gelişerek hızla ve kontrol dışı çoğalarakkansere neden olabiliyor.•Meditasyon, yoga ve müzik terapisiyle stresten uzakdurulmalı: Stres, birçok hastalık gibi kanser riskini artıranen önemli faktörlerden biri.•Beslenmeye dikkat edilmeli: Vücutta kanser hücreleridahil, tüm hücrelerin şekere ihtiyacı var.
