Milford Minibus coming soon...Can you help?As everyone is welcoming in the New Year,Milford On Sea Charitable Trust are gettingready to welcome a new and excitingcommunity asset to our village. Aftersignificant sponsorship and support fromSouth Lawn Hotel together with some verygenerous donations received from localevents and most recently, our wonderfulParish Council, we are now able to purchasea minibus which will be used to supportcommunity projects, groups and individualsthroughout Milford On Sea and oursurrounding areas.We are hoping that our minibus which willbe supplied and maintained by the HyundaiGarage in Everton, will be ready to rollwithin the next few weeks. We will then becontacting relevant groups operating in andaround Milford On Sea to introduce theproject and offer them transport services.We will also be concentrating our efforts ontrying to support individual people withinour community who may feel lonely orisolated or, simply unable to attend eventsin local villages because they are finding itdifficult to access suitable transport.In addition to the plethora of events alreadyplanned for 2020 in Milford On Sea, Everton,Lymore, Downton and Keyhaven, we arealso hoping to provide opportunities forpeople to visit our villages for shopping,sightseeing, fresh air and coffee or ice-creamin one of our delightful cafes, all in theknowledge that they will be driven door todoor, by one of our volunteer drivers.The minibus will be an 8-seater andindividuals will need to be able to access thevehicle with minimal support. Charges havenot yet been finalised but rest assured thatwe will safeguard that any costs to our userswill be the minimum required to cover theupkeep of the vehicle in order that theservice can be maintained for the future.This is a perfect opportunity for us to bringmore people into our villages to enjoy theshops, pubs, cafes and other amenities. Allour villages have wonderful treasures toexplore and having available and accessibletransport will provide an opportunity forlocal people to tell us what matters to themand which amenities they would like to visitand when.The service will require a lot of volunteers tomake it work, so, if you are interested ingetting involved please do not hesitate to letus know. We are particularly in need ofsomeone who has driving tuitionexperience who may be able to support ourdrivers on their first session driving theMilford On Sea minibus and, we are also ingreat need of finding a place to park thiswonderful community asset when not inuse.
