SAMARITAN’S PURSE – OPERATIONCHRISTMAS CHILD – SHOEBOXESappeal last November. A record number of 443shoeboxes were collected from All Saints’church last November. 50 boxes had been sentfrom the Baptist church and 28 from St Mary’sEverton, along with a few from individuals butthe majority were filled during the workshopsby my willing volunteers. So many people hadcontributed with knitting hats and mittens,sewing pencil cases and generally buying all thegoodies we needed to make a box full ofpresents that children would enjoy.Our boxes were among 8,500 which werestacked in a container at the end of Novemberfor a three month journey to Kyrgystan (CentralAsia) where Samaritan’s Purse partners willdistribute them. They should arrive in time fortheir New Year.As always I owe a great deal of gratitude toeveryone who contributed to the shoeboxThankyou all very much and I hope that you willfeel inspired to join us again next year when wetry to bring a little happiness and joy todisadvantaged children.
