Youngsters MCV
Bursary Award
In the last issue of MCV News Milford
Conservation Volunteers announced their new
‘Bursary Award’ for youngsters who have an
interest in nature/conservation.
MCV wishes to encourage a new era of
youngsters to become actively involved in their
own planet and is still seeking applications from
parents of youngsters under the age of 18 years
who wish to develop their skills in natural
history, conservation, recording wildlife or who
require specialist clothing and/or equipment.

MCV uses the funds collected from the sales to
put back into community projects. One of this
year’s selected projects is the award of £500 to
Milford Primary School to fund the acquisition
of wildlife nest boxes (birds/ dormice/bats etc)
plus additional trees for the hedgerows. All
items have been selected by the whole school
who have given MCV their ‘wildlife shopping
list’. Thanks to Deputy Head, Ben Willis, for
organising the children’s survey.
MCV by the 29th February 2020 for
consideration for the 2020 award which will be
announced at MCV’s annual general meeting in
March. The decision of the management
committee will be final.

Milford Primary School
Wildlife Funding Award
As part of its duty of care, the Parish Council
obtains an annual independent assessment of
trees that may be ‘Dead, Dying or Dangerous’.
Some of these trees need to be felled on safety
grounds. Where wood is brought down to
ground level, MCV volunteers extract it and
prepare it for sale to the community.
