It seems that there aretimes when a dog really CAN legitimatelybe JUST for Christmas, (and at a few othertimes throughout the year too). The lovelypeople at dog-friendly Everton NurseriesGarden Centre have been playing host toSophie’s Dog Holidays, and allowing themto explain why this is so…If you’ve visited the garden centre recently,you might have been ratherenthusiastically greeted by a beautiful,yellow Labrador called Honey, togetherwith Sophie Gates, owner of Sophie’s DogHolidays. Sophie was busy explaining howshe arranges very special holidays for dogs,while their owners go off on theirs. Insteadof placing their dogs in unfriendly kennels,Sophie arranges for them to be hosted inlocal people’s comfy, cosy homes. She wasat the garden centre to search for morelocal people to act as holiday hosts forthese adorable dogs. It turns out that, ifyou’re one of these holiday hosts, youreally can have a dog just for Christmas, ornow and again at other times throughoutthe year, and be the occasional owner of apart-time pooch whenever you like. Itsounds fun, especially if you don’t want theresponsibility of a full-time dog. Anyway, tofind out more you can visitwww.sophiesdogholidays.com or keep aeye out for Sophie at the garden centrethroughout the coming year.In fact Everton Nurseries Garden Centre isa haven for visitors with dogs. DirectorMaria Curry said “We love to see ourcustomers’ dogs and encourage them tobring them along. They’re welcome notonly in the garden centre but also in theoutside, covered seating area of ourrestaurant, ‘Camillias’.” In addition, one ofthe staff members has set up ‘Dave’s DogClub’, which provides a bit of wall spacewhere owners can bring in put photos oftheir dogs for other people to see. It’samazing how many local customers aredog owners and love to show off their fourlegged friends to others.
