Lets just say some of
us love our football.
For those that don't
know a hike from
a hand up your
ass. Here are some
fun facts we have
gathered.
From CBS sports
1 The game will be
played between the
Kansas City Chiefs
and San Francisco
49ers, marking the
first time these two
have met in a Super
Bowl.
2. This is the
first Super Bowl
appearance for the
Chiefs in 50 years.
The last time Kansas
City made it this far,
it was Jan. 11, 1970,
when the Chiefs
topped the Minnesota
Vikings in Super Bowl
IV for their first --
and only -- Lombardi
Trophy.
3. This is the 49ers'
seventh Super Bowl
appearance. San
Francisco went to five
Super Bowls between
1981-1994 and won
all five of them,
then returned to the
big game in 2012,
when they lost to the
Baltimore Ravens.
4. If the Niners win
Super Bowl LIV,
they will tie the New
England Patriots and
Pittsburgh Steelers for
the most Super Bowl
victories in NFL history (6).
But lets get serious.
Q: What do you call a bunch of millionaires
sitting around watching the Super Bowl on
TV?
A: The Dallas Cowboys.
A guy takes his twink boyfriend to a
football game for the first time.
After the game he asked his boyfriend how
he liked the game.
Oh, I really liked it, he said, but I just
couldn't understand though why they were
beating each other up for 25 cents.
Surprised, the guy asked, what do you
mean?
The twink replied all they kept screaming
was, ‘Get the quarter back! Get the quarter
back!'
Three fans were bemoaning the sorry state
of their football team.
"I blame the general manager," said the first
fan. "If he signed better players, we'd be a
great team."
"I blame the players," said the second fan.
"If they made more of an effort, we'd score
some points."
"I blame my parents," said the third. "If I'd
been born in Boston, I'd be supporting a
decent team."
Ok one more .
A hot college freshman decided to try out
for the football team.
"Can you tackle?" asked the coach.
"Watch this," said the freshman, who
proceeded to run smack into a telephone
pole, shattering it to splinters.
"Wow," said the coach. "I'm impressed.
Can you run?"
"Of course I can run," said the freshman.
He was off like a shot, and, in just over nine
seconds, he had run a hundred yard dash.
"Great!" enthused the coach.
"But can you pass a football?"
The freshman hesitated for a few seconds.
"Well, sir," he said, "if I can swallow it, I can
probably pass it."
Talk like you know what the fuck is
happening:
American football consists of a series of
downs, individual plays of short duration,
outside of which the ball is dead or not in
play.
They run plays from scrimmage – passes,
runs, punts, or field goal attempts (from
either a place kick or a drop kick) – or free
kicks such as kickoffs and fair catch kicks.
Substitutions can be made between
downs, which allows for a great deal of
specialization as coaches choose the players
best suited for each particular situation.
During a play, each team should have no
more than 11 players on the field, and each
of them has specific tasks assigned for that
specific play.
The objective of this game is to score more
points than the other team during the
allotted time.
AdamsArtExpose’ ART
With the current news cycle filled with
disclosure of the lies and criminal
activities of Donald Trump in his
impeachment trial. It is with nostalgia
looking back three years ago to the
introduction of the Obama Official
portrait done by the artist Kehinde Wiley,
a time of less division and unease in our
country.
Kehinde Wiley is a young gay Black
American artist who grew up in Los
Angeles. He was interested in art
at an early age Kehinde was raided
in South-central Los Angeles by his
mother Freddie Mae Wiley. His father,
Isaiah D.Obot a Yoruba from Nigeria,
Africa, came to the U.S. as a scholarship
student and returned to Nigeria after
finishing his studies. His mother was
left to raise Kehinde and his five siblings.
At an early age, Kehinde was able to
reproduce things he saw by drawing
them realistically. His mother arranged
for him to take after school art lessons
beginning at age 10. This was partially
to distract him from participating in
the gang culture that was prevalent in
that area of L.A. at that time as well
as to encourage his artistic talent. His
continuing art education was with the
San Fransisco Art Institute and Yale
University School of Art.
His training influenced his work in
which he made a political statement as
well as a visual one. He wanted to bring
more attention to the participation and
contribution of Black people in society
through his visual representations. He
realized the lack of people of African
American descent being represented in
the visual arts. His method of changing
this was to create realistic representations
of paintings by such artists as Jocques
David's, Napoleon Crossing the Saint
Bernard Pass on a white horse. In
Kehinde's version, he has a young
African American male riding a white
horse but wearing army fatigues and
boots. The background of the painting
is a gold brocade pattern on red.
KEHINDE WILEY, PAINTER OF THE OFFICIAL PORTRAIT OF BARAK OBAMA
Interspersed in the background are white
sperm floating among the brocade pattern to
enhance his statement of the masculinity of
black men.
Kehinde Wiley being selected to paint
the official Presidential portrait of Barack
Obama put him in a category of famous
artists such as Gilbert Stuart, John Singer
Sargent, and Aaron Shikter as an example
just a few of the artists who have painted
presidential portraits. However, Kehinde
is a unique selection to represent Obama
especially recognizing his previous
representations of Black people integrated
into a larger society through traditional rerepresentations
as in the Napoleon painting.
The Obama portrait shows him sitting on a
chair leaning forward with his arms crossed
in a background of floral foliage. This has
been criticized by some political pundits
as inappropriate for a presidential portrait.
However, it is a more accurate depiction of
Obama as a relaxed individual integrated
with a natural living environment, than if
he were posed sitting at a polished desk.
What do you think a portrait of the current
president should look like? How should
he be represented as an impeached failed
Human being?
The official portraits of Barak Obama and
First Lady Michelle Obama, painted by Amy
Sherald, will be touring to museums for the
next 2 years before taking their permanent
place in the National Portrait Gallery. The
tour will include the Art Institue of Chicago
June - August 2021; Brooklyn Museum Aug
-Oct 2021;
Nov - Jan 2022; High Museum of Art in
the ball (the offense) has 4 plays (downs)
to advance at least 10 yards, and can score
points once they reach the opposite end of
the field, which is home to a scoring zone
called the end zone, as well as the goal
posts.
Each time the offense succeeds in
advancing at least 10 yards, they earn a new
"first down" and the continues until they
score are touch down (cross the end-zone
or or kick a field goal between the goal
posts. If not they such and the ball is given
or kicked to the other team. Now the other
team is the offense and gets to move the
ball. Honestly the entire game is played in
slow motion not like its reckless brother
the soccer. Which is call football everyplace
else.
Collegiate and professional football games
are 60 minutes long, divided into four
quarters of 15 minutes each. In high school
the kids are so high who know what rules
they use.
History:
American football resulted from several
divergences from association football
and rugby football, most notably the
rule changes instituted by Walter Camp,
a Yale University and Hopkins School
graduate considered to be the "father of
gridiron football". Among these important
changes were the introduction of the line
of scrimmage, of down-and-distance rules
and of the legalization of interference.
Some say there is abundant evidence to
prove that this is the oldest outdoor game
in existence. In the 22nd chapter of Isaiah is
found the verse, "He will turn and toss thee
like a ball." This allusion, slight as it may be,
is sufficient unto the antiquary to indicate
that some sort of game with a ball existed as
early as 750 years before the Christian era.
According to the football hall of fame it
all started November 12, 1892, a day that
would forever be etched in sports history,
although no one involved that day could
possibly have recognized the importance
of the occasion. It was the day that the
Allegheny Athletic Association football
team defeated the Pittsburgh Athletic Club.
The game in itself was not a momentous
event. But one of the circumstances of the
game did make it a never-to-be-forgotten
moment in sports history – one of the AAA
players, William (Pudge) Heffelfinger, was
openly paid $500 to play the game. Thus
pro football made its debut more than
100 years ago in comparatively obscure
surroundings that could not possibly
have provided the slightest clue to the
world-wide popularity the sport would
be destined to enjoy, particularly in the
waning decades of pro football's first
century.
Did you know?
The Seattle Seahawks team was named by
fans. A contest was held and 20,365 entries
were received. 151 people suggested the
name Seahawks, and the name was chosen
as the winner by the team owners.
The NFL, first known as the American
Professional Football Association, was
formed in Canton on Sept. 17, 1920.
The cheerleaders in the NFL typically make
$50-$75 per game.
A football is not made out of pig skin. A
cow has only a 1 in 17,420,000 chance of
becoming an NFL football that is used in
the Super Bowl.
Jersey number 12 was retired for the fans
of Seattle, or the 12th man. However, while
Sam Adkins played for Seattle, number 12
was his jersey number.
It wasn’t a requirement for football players
to wear a helmet in the NFL until 1943.
The winning team in the Super Bowl
receives permanent possession of the
sterling silver, Vince Lombardi trophy.
It stands 20.75 inches tall, weighs 107.3
ounces, and is valued in excess of $25,000.
The most pizza is sold on Super Bowl
Sunday than any other day of the year.
Psychologists note that some events are
socially tied to food categories—Superbowl
+ pizza, Easter + eggs, etc.
The NFL requires that all stadiums be built
facing North and South so that the sun
never interferes with a play.
Former Minnesota Vikings kicker Fred Cox
invented the Nerf football back in 1972. He
still receives royalties for every unit sold.
There are 67,000 seats, 11 elevators and 48
concession areas throughout CenturyLink
field.
There is a reason why the field looks like
a gridiron. Lines had to be established so
teams knew how far they had to go.
Kickers got more respect in those early
days. Originally, touchdowns were only
worth four points, while field goals were
worth five.
In football’s early days, the forward pass
was illegal, so most plays were variations
on a theme of “ball carrier smashes into
the line of scrimmage.” Unsurprisingly, this
limited playbook led to a lot of injuries.
As president, Teddy Roosevelt threatened
to ban football unless new rules were
established to ensure player safety. The
revised rules introduced the forward pass.
The huddle was first used in the 1890s
by quarterback Paul Hubbard, who was
deaf. Hubbard was concerned the other
team could interpret his hand signals, so
he brought his teammates into a round
formation to call plays.
The first televised professional football
game took place in 1939. We have come a
long way.
