Most endoscopists pass endoscopes under direct vision.

Sometimes it may be necessary to insert the endoscope blindly,

or with finger-guidance.

Check again that the patient is positioned easily for swallowing.

The head should not be drooping, the neck slightly flexed, with

the patient facing directly in front. After sedation, many patients

slump into positions in which swallowing anything is a challenge.

Direct vision insertion

This is the best and standard method:
