with leading academic institutions across clinical<br />

specialities for undergraduate students, staff, postgraduate<br />

students and external health professionals.<br />

Melbourne has been in place for nearly 150 years.<br />

to clinical research, education and patient care. To<br />

Program. This program is about responding to a call<br />

for action, designed to build our safety culture and<br />

professional accountability, and help the organisation<br />

to deliver safe, reliable and quality care. We are<br />

pioneering the way in Asia Pacific, implementing the<br />

program in partnership with the Cognitive Institute,<br />

an international provider of healthcare education for<br />

doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.<br />

Not only will you receive support from the Supervisor<br />

of Intern Training, term supervisors, Medical<br />

Workforce and Education team and the RMO society,<br />

you will be assigned a mentor to help you transition<br />

into your role and hit the ground running. The aim<br />

is for Mentor and mentee to draw on their similar<br />

knowledge, rank, experiences and emotional and<br />

social reciprocity, thereby, enabling the founding of<br />

a mutually supportive and empowering collaborative<br />

relationship. The program has a universal goal of<br />

embracing a learning community which breaks down<br />

isolation and leads Mentor and Mentee on a pathway<br />

of self-discovery.<br />

BASIC INFORMATION<br />

The Mildura Base Hospital is an accredited<br />

regional referral centre, servicing approximately<br />

76,000 people in the North West area of Victoria<br />

and South West NSW. It is a newly built fully<br />

integrated facility with 146 beds including medicine,<br />

surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ICU, dialysis,<br />

emergency, psychiatry and rehabilitation as<br />

well as four fully equipped operating theatres.<br />

Enjoy what the locals enjoy every day – warm<br />

sunshine, clear skies and fresh air. Mildura offers a<br />

friendly, relaxed lifestyle, access to Australia’s mighty<br />

Murray and Darling rivers and a wide variety of sporting<br />

and leisure activities. Multiple daily air services to<br />

Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney provide excellent<br />

opportunities to commute regularly. Mildura is in the<br />

heart of Australia’s largest dried fruit, grape and wine<br />

producing area and has a number of major wineries.<br />

The beautiful weather and the magnificent Murray<br />

and Darling rivers supply the irrigation that makes<br />

this area the great horticultural centre of Victoria.<br />

REASONS TO APPLY<br />

All consultants, resident specialists and visiting medical<br />

staff take a great interest in graduate education.<br />

Mildura Base Hospital offers its HMOs, Interns and<br />

Registrars with medical education sessions five days<br />

per week. There is one hour of protected time each<br />

day to allow medical staff to attend these tutorials.<br />

There is an active education program which includes<br />

weekly Rounds presentations, departmental education<br />

sessions, X-ray meetings and case presentations.<br />

Whether virtual or personal contact is needed,<br />

the Library can help you to source information<br />

technology, or study and research requirements.<br />
