If you fail, you will get specific feedback on areas that need to be improved before<br />
retaking the HPT (eg selecting safe following distance when travelling behind other<br />
vehicles).<br />
A printout of the results and feedback screen can be obtained from the registry or<br />
agency staff. This may help you to prepare to resit the HPT.<br />
The last message on the results screen will tell you to return to the counter in<br />
the registry or agency for issue of your P2 licence or to arrange another HPT<br />
appointment.<br />

If you fail the HPT, another fee is charged to sit the test again. you should only<br />
re-attempt the test when you are ready. you need to bring your application form and<br />
identity documents.<br />

when you apply for a driver licence.<br />

are also special requirements that apply if you have changed your name.<br />
AIdING ANd CHEATING dURING THE HPT<br />
It should be noted that you may not be assisted during the HPT. The HPT is a<br />
test for individual drivers to see if they are good enough to hold a P2 licence. All<br />
instances of cheating or attempts to cheat will be treated seriously by RMS officials.<br />
Penalties, including prosecution, may be imposed on anyone who accepts aid or<br />
provides aid to HPT candidates during the test. At the very least you will not be<br />
allowed to resit the HPT for six weeks.
